where are these stats available at?

I didn't realize they had decided on a design yet for this role so I thought you guys were talking about the LWRC M6A4 which is closed semi and open full. USMC chose the 416 variant instead of the LWRC. I think the closed/open config is an awesome system myself but I have not shot one. I have shot the regular 416 and it is a nice rolling m16. Sorry for adding confusion.

I love the SAW and I don't care if it weighs 40% more or whatever or draws more attention or whatever else people say if I was going into a situation that needed suppressive fire like that I would pick the SAW all day long. If you ever get the chance to shoot a SAW and havent you need to do it. Loads more fun than a M16. here is a pic of me with a saw just to show my love of them.

I never got to fire the M-249 SAW. I did get to fire the M-60 and the M2 .50cal. I think it's a mistake to replace the belt fed MG for basically a souped up M-16/M-4 type rifle. I think if they follow thru with this it's gonna get people killed. Unfortunately, that's not the sort of thing that is quantifiable. They aren't gonna be able to pick apart a battle and say, "Ok, the reason these troops died was because there wasn't enough SAW suppression fire to go around."

This.Is.A.Bad.Idea!

My .02 worth.

The Marine Corps is not eliminating the M-249 SAW entirely -- there will still be 9 per company under direct control of the company commander.
