I know both require hearing protection, but wouldn't you really prefer to spend a couple of hours at the range?

Guys, I didn't ask what you think about the concert. :-)
I only wonder if I can carry inside. :-)

Late comer to the thread here. Lets look at it in steps:
1) Is it a professional sporting event? - No. Good to Carry.
2) Is it a venue owned or leased by a local, county or state government? If yes, good to carry. If no, see # 3.
3) Is it posted 30.06? If no, good to carry. If Yes, AND privately owned then effective notice has been given. If yes and government owned then it is not enforceable and you are good to carry.
Now let's look at the practicality. Are they scanning? I would bet they are. Now even if it is property owned or leased by the city, you now have a choice. Carry, be hassled and MAYBE educate the peon with authority or their supervisor and or off duty LEO's that are there. It has the potential of being a long evening before getting to someone not willing to arrest you and/or permit entry. The other option is to not carry and leave yourself unprotected.
I have carried to a few concerts and it is always missed or ignored, YMMV. I noticed at AAL the other day that if I had been wearing an ankle holster, it would not have been noticed. BTW, I had disarmed so as not to ruin the girls' day and it was broad daylight. I am still undecided about the American Idol concert next week.
Oh yeah, I am personally ignorant of the particular venue in the OP.

Nobody checks at the door. Been to enough concerts myself now, it is actually odd that they don't check because there are some lunatic funs.

Why don't you call the promoters and ask?
Maybe Lady Gaga will give you permission......

Gaga has a great voice, and there is no doubt that "Edge of Glory" is one of the anthems of the day, but I cannot stand to watch her. It's like watching porn, and frankly, it's disgusting.
I guess I'm just an old poot.

The Toyota center is posted 30.06, but you can still carry since it is owned by the city. At the last concert I attended, I saw an officer check a CHL at the security checkpoint and he was allowed to continue.

So, anyone have an answer to the OP's question?
Or did I miss it in the thread somewhere?

The Toyota Center is owned by the City of Houston. I don't even recall seeing 30.06 postings there when going to the numerous Aeros games I've been to there but they may just put them out for concerts.

Aren't Houston Rockets and Aeros games professional sporting events where CHL is forbidden by law? Now as to the issue of ownership: Harris County - Houston Sports Authority.

It's government owned.
It's not a court. It's not a school. It's not a racetrack. A Lady Gaga concert is not a professional sporting event.
It looks like it's not a 51% location. (License #: MB542236, Gun Sign: BLUE)

You can legally carry there since it's government owned, but as mentioned earlier, if they're wanding and find it then your almost sure to be turned away.
