It would help if there was a candidate worth voting for. I can't recall ever voting for someone because I liked them; it's always "well (s)he can't be worse than
that idiot".

The good people and those who would actually make decent presidents are either too smart to run, or would never be able to survive the media onslaught.

Every politician that is running I have disagreements with, which I guess means I really aint the center of the universe. I personally like Perry, I believe he is pro-states rights and pro-2nd amendment, I also feel he is a patriot. I also don't care what a European feels about me and my choices for leader. We have either saved them at one time or whipped em at one time, so probably there will never be any love being shown to those I believe in. Also, unfortunantly at this point in time I would vote for a rock if it was running against Obama and minions.

They are being branded as radicals, terrorists, jihadist, etc. by the alphabet media and their marxist reporters and talking heads.

I hope the good Gov'nor Goodhair stays out. He simply doesn't have the intellect to handle the job of President.

Compared to any of the last 6 Rick would be the dimmest light on the tree by far.

Frankly, I wish he wouldn't. Though I supported him as Gov I could not, in good conscience, vote for him as Commander in Chief (especially not while my son wears the uniform). Honestly, I just don't think he could or would win a presidential election.
I am wondering why wouldn't you vote for Perry while your son wears the uniform? Just curious and trying to expand my knowledge...

there are several issues I vote carefully on, 1) homeschooling - Perry is perfect on this, 2) 2nd amendment - Perry is good. 3) security - in this topic I would include immigration and terror. a) while I'm not 100% thrilled on his stance on immigration, I understand it...b)I haven't heard him speak on terror, but I haven't heard any negatives yet
I guess I say this to say, I look forward to learning more about him, I don't see how we can know all about him yet as far as what he will be like as a Pres. he hasn't declared and he's doing well in the numbers, I think he can win, I also think he may be our best hope. most of the others are too RINO, I think he's truly states rights and will stick to it.
Pug, I'd like to know your problem with him as Commander in Chief. If my son were in uniform he's one of the very few I would want in that position...

1. Homeschooling: I'm glad Perry is good on this one...esp. since he's pretty well supported policies that have gutted the effectiveness of the public school system.
2. 2nd Amendment: Other than signing a few bills that were passed w/ a veto-proof margin....and pushing against campus carry with his TAMU admin buddies....what has Perry actually done?
3. Immigration: I don't understand it...but then, Perry's position changes a lot....from "tough on the border" to "give illegals in-state tuition".....
4. Terrorism: Hard to tell....haven't heard much from him on that, either....
Perry may not be as RINO as Romney, but he's as much a big-gov't Republican as Bush and Boehner.....and, if you're looking for a good candidate for Commander-In-Chief, may I suggest someone who has some experience in the matter?.....

...we often get a president who's not been in the military...if he's a true patriot and understands how important a strong military is to us all, he'll surround himself with advisors with the experience...
....Reagan had one of the most lackluster military service records I've seen...but he understood the military enough to be a fine president...for one example...

Maybe....then again, it's just as easy to NOT get good advisors....look at our current POTUS....

I beg to differ....Reagan served to the best of his abilities, including making several films for the Army. He played the cards he was dealt, and he did it well.

I don't think Allen West is running...so we can't elect someone who is not even on the ticket. I am all ears for a better electable candidate, I just don't see one yet.

I wouldn't bet on him NOT making a run, based on popular support....
