I'm not Mike, but those are the ones and everyone I know that has them really like them. Probably the best muffled bang for your buck you can get.

The advantage of most electronic muffs is you can actually amplify the normal sounds when no loud sounds are present, so that helps overcome the sound dampening of the plug. However, if you are on a very active range, the muffs sound will be 'switched off' when others are firing and they will act just like a pair of regular non-electronic muffs. With the addition of the plugs while switched off, it will make it tougher to hear. If there is no shooting going on, then it should be better.

EDIT TO ADD: The cheap electronic muffs at Harbor Freight and Academy (<$30 range) are very slow to switch back on after dampening, so there is a delay in the regaining of sound amplificaiton. With th higher-end muffs, the switching is much faster and you don't even realize they were switched off and on.

I can vouch for those - have owned for about 18 months. Work really well and no buyers remorse. I wear them backwards (sound reception in rear) to hear better what's happening behind me rather than down range. I also recommend the custom modled earplugs by Radians from Academy. My wife has small ear canals and complains about the spongey ones not going in her ears far enough. She's also tried the gel or jelly types without much success.

I also wear double hearing protection at indoor ranges like many are suggesting here. I wear a 29 dB Radian earmuff ($16.99) over a gel type ear plug that has about a 26dB rating.

I also have little, tiny ear holes, and the foamies, or the plastic plugs with fins, always caused me pain. Until I finally got some custom molded ones (worth their weight in gold if you shoot a lot!) I used the child size ear plugs from Remington. The only place I have ever found them is Cheaper Than Dirt.

I have a set of these Caldwell e-max low profile electric muffs I use for range time, USPSA & Steel Challenge matches & while hunting.
Like mentioned before they amplify under 80db and block anything over.
They are comfortable to wear for several hours in this heat. They are a bit warm and will start to be less comfortable after about 4-5 hrs of continuous wear.
They are priced right and I have had no problems with mine. Neither has the shooting buddy who turned me onto them. He has two pair.

+1 I have the Howard Leight Impact Sports which are a bit less than $50 and they work as well as my $200+ Pro Ears. I've converted to wearing them full time due to the narrower profile plus the batteries last longer (300 vs. 200 hrs) and are easier to find (AAA's vs. N-type). Search around as prices vary but <$50 should be easy.

I have a set of Howard Leight Impact Sports that I use.

I also have 3 or 4 sets of the Caldwell electronic muffs that I lend out to people who go to the range with me. They work, but are slower to turn back on after the cut off. It's just a bit disconcerting, so it bugs me to no end.

I would probably really like the Caldwell muffs if I had never tried the Howard Leights.

At Grainger Industrial Supply ( many walk-in stores, or order on-line) - 30db NRR ear muffs that won't break the bank (though some will).

They also have some very good Safety Glasses - I use Uvex OTG (over the glasses), my Rx glasses fit under them very well and they are comfortable - available from same place for very reasonable price. Clear, grey, & amber lenses available.

i bought those from Academy for $55, i think. absolutely, hands down the BEST muffs i've ever put on my head. i love not having to take them off to speak to someone and they do exactly what they advertise.
