For the record, I have neither a CHL badge nor a cape. I'm just a portly, older, steely eyed guy with an arthritic bad knee and back who might be packin' a gun. The people who know me, know me. The others...meh.
I'm with Oldgringo on this. Although my back is okay, and I don't think I'm as "aged" as he since I haven't quite reached the quinquagenary of my birth, I do have two bad feet and puppy dog eyes.

People who know me, know me. Acquaintances, not so much. Strangers - well, they are strange.

Just a thought.

If someone is going to worry about the cost, they can save a lot of money by not getting a CHL and not carrying a gun.

Good replies everyone. I was wondering if I would be reprimanded for my position in the OP. I support everyone's choice to decide as they see fit, in the end we all have to do what we think is best in a situation. I wanted to give some advice to the new guys so they think about both sides of the coin ahead of time and are prepared to do what is best. Be safe everyone.

I definitely agree that it is not something you should broadcast and that, in general, the fewer people who know, the better but I wouldn't limit it to my significant other.
I don't broadcast that I carry nor do I particularly care who knows. I am a law abiding citizen that is former LE.
Just like when I was LE, I didn't care who knew then, but didn't offer the information either.
If the topic comes up, I absolutely mention I'm a CHL holder and strongly advise others get theirs as well.
It's a right to carry a firearm if you're not a felon. I do not cower or feel I need to hide the fact.
When the topic of firearms come up, as a range officer for Templar Tactical Training, I always encourage people to enjoy shooting sports, take classes, and if they would like I'll put them on our list for CHL classes. I encourage them to join the NRA and above all, if they’re going to own a firearm, TRAIN often. It makes them safer. Not from bad guys (but yes that too) but from accidents.

I do not understand the "let's be worried about who knows" mentality. It’s not a secrete club.
I NEVER carry where I'm not supposed to, and ALWAYS carry everywhere else.
And I could care less who knows it.
