The Annoyed Man wrote:Whether it's a commie killing millions, or a fascist killing thousands, neither are justifiable. But of the two, the former is vastly more evil. It's one thing to kill a few thousand political opponents. It's a whole other level to eliminate, or try to eliminate, an entire people group of segment of society because some of them might oppose you. In that regard, Saddam Hussein fit into both categories. He ruthlessly had thousands of individual people murdered whom he judged to be political dangers or liabilities, but he also perpetrated mass murder against northern Iraqi Kurds using chemical weapons, murdering women, children, old folks, and babies. The fact that he didn't kill more of them is partly due to the world's reaction (which has been pitifully absent in other cases), and partly due to Hussein's machinery of death having been very inefficient.....the goose-stepping SOBs.
And by the way, what is it with goose-stepping, and why does it seem to be almost universally a symptom of evil dictatorships? It's almost like God gave us a secret sign......"Thus shall ye know the evil dictator, for he shall walk like a goose and speak in prideful boasting." (TAM 1:1, ASV)
A single death is a tragedy; a million deaths is a statistic.

Thanks all for bringing me up to date.
While those on the right have been known to kill their opposition, the difference in numbers vs. the left is staggering.
I'm surprised there's no refutation.
I'm guessing it's because the numbers are impossible to argue against...

Perhaps, someone here can prove that leftists more often kill their opposition, but I doubt it.
There is no such thing as a conservative dictatorship. If you're referring to right wing, that's an invention of the communists/socialists to redefine conservatives and smear them with the deeds of dictators. Conservatives are people who believe in the rights of man and view governments as a necessary evil, to be tolerated but never empowered above what is absolutely necessary.
If you're really interested in who kills who, you need to study Professor RJ Rummel's work.
http://www.hawaii.edu/powerkills/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Dr. Rummel has dedicated his career to studying murder by government. According to Rummel, the Soviets alone are responsible for the deaths of 61+ million people, the Chinese for 35+ million more. The Nazi's were pikers by comparison, "only" accounting for 20+ million. "Leftists" like to describe the Nazi's as "a right wing" dictatorship, but the goals of the Nazis (eliminating "undesirables" and building a "utopian" society) were
identical to the goals of socialists.
South American dictatorships have never been "right wing" except in the eyes of those who lust for the day when they too can kill everyone that disagrees with them.

Most socialists want people to forget the nickname was short for Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei. (National Socialist German Workers' Party)

Actually, it is a false comparison when ranking the number of killings as left versus right.
First place goes to the left. Second place goes to militant Islam. Conservatism doesn't even make the radar screen.

Indeed, the Soviets vs the Nazis was really about what "flavor" of Socialism would reign supreme...the version with the German people on top of the heap or the supposed "international" version that the Soviets attempted to push on the world. ALL of it was and is pretty horrible.

Since there's no rebuttal of the numbers, the left must accept them.
It would be interesting to read what their take is - but in accepting these numbers (by virtue of their silence) I guess there's no need to speculate what they'd say...
