I've been carrying since early 2011. Once I was clothes shopping with the family in a department store, 10 yr old daughter at the time, tells me when I bent over to find a pair of jeans quietly says "Dad, stand up, I can tell you are wearing IT"

Priceless!!

I have made it a point to introduce both her and the wife to firearms from day one. My daughter enjoys shooting the .22's and my wife just got her plastic!!

My kids have grown up with me carrying. IMO It is better to educate them then to try and hide it.

Wodathunkit, longhorn86 ... I really liked your stories about your kids. Both of them brought a nice smile to my face :)

or you can carry a gun
but you can't do both

My kids (13 and 7) both know and don't give it a second thought. They have grown up around the fact that I usually have a gun somewhere on me most of the time. They are also very used to shooting, hunting, etc. so a gun isn't out of place in their lives. Since it isn't anything unusual, it isn't even on their mind to blurt out that I am carrying.

Yes, my kids know we carry. Once we explained it all and went shooting as a family, they are completely fine with it. They don't ask about it. The respect and understanding are there.
If you carry a gun, people call you paranoid. Nonsense! If you carry a gun, what do you have to be paranoid about?
