Ya know what's great about Female GSD's?
More belly to rub!

That was supposed to be a secret for the GS owners.

I love GSD's. Owned them, bred them, and showed them.
My 9 year-old Lily is coming towards the end of her life. She is losing control of her rear legs. She gives no indication of any pain, but the day I think she is in pain or the day she cannot walk outside to take care of business is the day I'll have to put her down. My wife, especially, will be sorrowful.

She's gonna be a big girl, and she's already got "the look."

Till now she is very playful and very sociable, she loves her "pack".
Soon, I would like to start her on her "obedience and defensive skill" school.

Beautiful puppy! I remember when every other dog my Dad saw in his practice was a GS. Wonderful animals. In his 65 years as a practicing vet he saw the trends change a lot and in the last years Pit Bulls gradually increased until in 2006 when I started assisting him after I retired, they were the most prevalent breed he saw. Chihuahuas were second but it was probably 10 to 1 Pits.

I've had GSDs all my life. My wife "made us" adopt this gorgeous GSD/Aussie mix, affectionately (and appropriately) named "Tank."
This is a pic of him at 4 months old. Now at 10 months, he's living up to his supersized name. We will be putting him in agility training soon. This dog LOVES to be in motion!
(of course, any of you that are my customers have certainly met Tank -- he's very sociable with folks!)

It irked me at the time, but what a GREAT photo now showing him back in his prime. The first was taken around -06? He sent a XMAS card home last yard to some friends with our female GS in it. The last photo was taken in the early 90's with my 1st pooch. Both were from Denmark.

And this is why I have a hard time getting another GS. I was raised with one until she was about 13. It was one of the hardest things going through. In fact, I had a cat from when I was 15 in 1990 until 2009 (he was 19.5!). He let us know that he couldn't do it anymore & to this day, I'm still broken up about him. That was my son. I watched him being born & there until his last breath.

I've had two GS...try to kill me. One as a child and one as a young adult. The last one was a friends family pet. It ended up trying to kill my friends mother.
I'm sure they are good dogs, just not at my house!

You have to be careful. When you look up human fatalities by dog breed there's even one listed from a Chihuahua!
