Re: My GS dog
I love these dogs. I used to raise them as a teenager, but we haven't had one in 20 years or more.

Beautiful dog!! My previous two were GS, they take a special place in your heart!
Re: My GS dog
I have 2 GS...One being my retired k9 that originally came from Denmark. They are GREAT dogs. My other is a female I rescued.

Re: My GS dog
Beautiful animal. Then again, I have never seen an ugly GS.

Re: My GS dog
Good looking pup.
My first dog at 2 was a gs, now some 40 years later I am dying to get another one. Found a good breeder that has a lot of red in their coloring.
Just have to wait until I have enough time to dedicate to a dog like that.
Congrats!

You should adopt one of the many ones out there needing a home. Most rescue organizations train them before rehoming them.jmain wrote:Good looking pup.

Re: My GS dog
I work with one of those groups. In most parts of Texas, there is a German Shepherd rescue organization. We get some great dogs in and even a few pure bred puppies... Pick a rescue up and you create another slot for us to pull another dog from the pound. It shocks me how many people mistreat or just abandon their animals. In my area, the dogs are checked for temperament, brought up to date on all shots, and are usually socialized before they go to a forever home. Some get professional training...nyj wrote:

You're not with the Austin group are you?cb1000rider wrote:I work with one of those groups. In most parts of Texas, there is a German Shepherd rescue organization. I'll never get a puppy again. Pound pups are special, and they shelters are constantly overflowing with them. Euthanizing a dog that never had a chance is crappy.
Re: My GS dog
Thanks a lot for the nice comments. Laika has replace her set of teeth and in few months I would have to start finding a good trainer who can teach obedience and defensive calls and restraints call back.
This is my 3rd GS. The first was before 78 and the second was after 83 till 89-90. Now in US, I selected a pure bred GS. All are females.
