We all started where you are at one time or another. Take your time and get down your grip, draw, sight picture and trigger. You'll hear alot of advice, but the thing that helped me the most was from a Master who told me "Get a good sight picture and make a good shot....KNOW you made a good shot and get moving!" The biggest error I was making was looking at the target after I shot it to see where I hit. If you have a clear sight picture and KNOW you made a good shot, you don't have to burn up all that time staring at your target. Don't forget that if you take the time to make good shots, your shot groups will tighten up. Less points down means a better overall score.

It's a game.......there's a fine line between speed and accuracy. In order to shoot lightening fast, you're going to sacrifice a bit of accuracy. The more you practice and focus on your skills, the faster and more accurate you'll shoot. I still have alot to learn, myself but thanks to the guys at the matches, I'm learning well.

Thanks for the advice age_ranger, and thanks for the encouragement Wildscar. I do have a problem with not trusting my aim, and spend a lot of time looking for my hits, which are tough to spot on the cardboard targets.

Where the heck were ya?? It was an exiting match, full of thrills and spills. Even a KABOOM. Shooter is fine, will leave it to him to post up if he wants to.
We even had an 18 round stage with 12 of those shots being at 25 yards and TWO tac loads.

I had a blast! Especially this being my first match and only 3rd time shooting my new toy. Wildscar thanks for the invite! And thanks for the holster loan "____", not sure of your forum name :), but you know who you are. I need to get this back to you since for xmas I am getting a holster from Santa :).

Glad I didn't place last :).

No you don't need a CHL to shoot IDPA. But a decent holster an a couple of mag pouches help.
