Seeing the series got me curious about the graphic novel it is based on, so I checked it out.

Wow.

Dark. Very dark.

Fittingly so though, given the fictional circumstances the story revolves around. The author doesn't pull any punches and has a pretty good understanding about human nature, whether he realizes it or not. There's a plot line that follows the survivors as they enter into a "safe area" that reminded me of my experiences in A-stan and Iraq.

Pretty good series IMO.

Pretty good series IMO.
Read the comic as well. After seeing the series, I recommend reading the comic over watching the tv adaptation. Moves along at a quicker pace, has way more involved, and is very well written.
