I totally wore a t-shirt today... underneath some other stuff.

Did you happen to have breakfast at Denny's really early this morning (4-5am ish)? I think I overheard someone there saying something about Alaska and this not being so cold.

Nope, not me. The thing that confuses me most is that when we moved back to Texas after 11 years up there, I still can't decide which I despise more, the Texas Summers or the Alaskan Winters. :???:

I had a cat BEGGING to go out, I opened the door and she ran towards it and it was like there was a wall there. She hit the threshold and spun in the air and headed back for a blanket. I almost choked I was laughing so hard. What's even funnier is she had been out before, looking confused about the crunchy footsteps. Her brother loves it.

It's about 28 here in the beautiful Rio Grande Valley, with windchill making feel like 18. So, of course, all the schools closed yesterday and won't open until Monday.

If there were a hurricane in the gulf, the schools wouldn't close until landfall was imminent the next day.

Go figure.

The last couple of cats I had were completely declawed and trained to jump up and use a toilet (padded seat to warm the feet) instead of litter box ("Kitty Whiz" training system).

I didn't want them going outdoors and ending up sail cats (sail animals are those flat dried road critters you can throw/sail like a Frisbee like a "sail rabbit" or "sail squirrel") so I would toss them out in snow or rain when they were young.

Even when they were older, they'd sit in front of the door looking out, but if you tried to shove them outside, they'd climb over you. They just knew outside was "gonna get them" if they went out.

Last night it took me an 1:45 to get home vs the normal 0:35, a full three-fold increase in travel time. But all else being equal, I'll take this over the oppressive TX summers any & every day.

A thicker jacket can always be put on, but you can only take off so much before people start staring.

To put this into perceptive, it has been warmer in parts of Alaska recently than it has been in Dallas.
