Maybe....then again, it's just as easy to NOT get good advisors....look at our current POTUS....

I beg to differ....Reagan served to the best of his abilities, including making several films for the Army. He played the cards he was dealt, and he did it well.
...like I said...lackluster...he wasn't a great general or a combat hero...he served a very mundane unexciting service...his experience was not about combat...nor handling troops, nor making command decisions...none of which is a put-down...none of which especially qualified him to be Commander-in-Chief...he made up for that with heart and surrounding himself with experts who HAD the experience...I read the link you quoted from Wiki to make sure there was nothing I didn't remember...before I posted...
...and as for our current office-holder...the problem is NOT the lack of experienced advisors...it's that he has neither the heart or the interest in doing what's right for either our troops or our country...so the available talent's not being used...he's only interested in surrounding himself with bobble-heads...

So....does that mean you'd rather have someone without military experience who
might pick "good" advisors over someone who's had lackluster or good military experience?....because Perry has no military experience....unless you count the TAMU Corps of Cadets....and his advisor choices haven't been to hot, either....

Perry for sure is running for office of the President. I have no clue if the Perry is good for the economy and deficit. We want someone who run to restore the fiscal responsibility and stability, no one is interested in leading a sinking ship in the middle of perfect storm.
Time to dive. to cut the spending, time to raise the tax to restore a sane future.

Perry was Gore's Texas campaign chairman in 1988. Therefore, I will not vote for him. There are more conservative alternatives. There's a big difference between TX governor and POTUS.

I do not know if Perry will run or not but one thing I do know is that if Obama is re-elected he will complete the destruction of the US.
What he has done in less than 3 years is to "fundamentally change America". He has kept the promise that he made
while on the campaign trail in 2008. "Yes we can!!" destroy what America stood for and our way of life.
In fact, he is one of the only candidates that has kept his promises to the American people. Problem is we did not know what
he meant and we elected him.
I only hope whoever runs can beat him or we, as a country, will be a "has been".
Medicare and SS needs changing. I am a recipient of both but as such I still say it needs to change or it will be
destroyed for future recipients. I really liked Ryan's proposal about how Medicare could change for the better by
essentially privatizing it.
The military needs to be cut but not too much as to negate their ability to defend us at a time we need defending.
I think the threat to the US is very real today and will only get worse as time goes on.
Whoever the Republican put out there in 2012 I hope he/she wins. Just maybe we could reverse some of the
"big government" programs like Obama Care.
If Republicans keep fighting amongst themselves they will only hurt themselves and ensure Obama's re-election.
I was hoping that Hillary would challenge Obama but that will not happen.
For those of you that think that Obama has been doing a good job and hope he gets re-elected then all I can say is
be careful what you wish for.
Just my honest opinion.

...after reading the facts about that statement

You do realize that Rick Perry was a C-130 pilot for about 3 years back in the 1970s, right? He did that because he was in the United States Air Force...so while I'm fairly certain that Governor Perry has no direct combat experience, he did sign up and do his part...hauling things around the world to the folks that needed them. And considering how many folks in the world of politics have NEVER served or done anything of the sort, I think that being a USAF C-130 pilot counts...

...my post (which you quoted) can apply to our Gubnah, too...flying a C130 is a job...but doesn't qualify you for presidential control over the armed forces...why are you on the defensive for him??? Sure he served, sure he did his job...so did I, but neither he nor I are remotely qualified to be Commander-in-Chief of the greatest fighting troops in the world...so either of us would have to rely on QUALIFIED advisors in our staff to help us make intelligent decisions...all we would be bringing to the table would be the heart of a patriot and the wisdom to surround ourselves with wise, experienced advisors...so, like the old lady said: "Where's the beef???"

I agree. The founding father put the military under
civilian control for very good reasons.

I'm not sure Perry has to resign as governor to run for president. Bush didn't. That said, I hope he doesn't run. I'm thinking a Gingrich/Cain ticket.

If Ron Paul has a chance to win, I will vote for him. Cain is radical anti-Islamist and anti-constitution. If he cannot uphold the constitution and protect US citizens and their rights which are protected by constitution, how he can be a president or vice-president??

Those are the prereqs actually...
Besides that, Cain was the president of the Kansas City Federal Reserve, which is the last the we need in the White House. The FED enables the government's spending, and we owe it $1.6 Trillion. Let's not put one of their guys in charge, again.

$1.6 trillion is a lot of money but our debt is over $14 trillion and soon to be $17 trillion a sum so large that it is difficult to comprehend. Whoever gets elected they will not be able to balance our budget in their lifetime. The alternative is worse in that if Oblah blah gets elected again he will do nothing but grow it even more. The sickening thing is that a lot of our young adults have no idea what is happening in our govt. They are the group that got him in the WH in the first place.

Those young people that put him in the white house now have very little thanks for what they did. Their unemployment numbers are sky high and those that can find work are doing work that they could have done out of high-school. They were told all their life to go to school to get a better job and so they did and now when their student loans are coming due the promised jobs are simply not there. You can't promise the moon--fail to deliver, and expect the same crowd to fall for it again. Most young people I know are very frustrated and are a bit irritated with the situation at hand. They want to move on in their life, but have few options to do so. So I don't think they will turn out in droves as before. Sure some of them will still vote and most will probably still lean left, but you will not see the excitement that got them out in bunches last time around.
