Hey, look at the bright side. You can buy cheap mags from NY residents. They should create a website CheapNYMagsforSale.com
The Tyranical Socialists are hard at work at stealing freedoms from our fellow Americans and we just snicker at getting magazines for cheaper prices? I do understand the opportunities to get better pricing from New York residents but I am furious at government officials and their tyranny!

I do feel sorry for the folks living in upstate New York. The counties up there are pretty red. NYC dictates to the rest of the state what they can and can not do, just like Chicago does to the rest of Illinois. We should be watching and learning, as our major urban areas continue to grow (Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, Austin), our state will get more and more purple and finally we will reach the point where the state is governed by those major urban areas.

When I say he is angry with me, I mean it. No tongue in cheek. He spent about an hour blaming me for the massacres in CT. I got to say about two sentences while he yelled at me. Not complaining, just telling y'all how it is. He said I should not be permitted to own any weapons...why...cause there a children in the house and blah blah blah......never mind we have our guns Ina safe...that is not good enough for him. Apparently, I don't love my children like he loved his.....blah blah blah. Yeah it was a fun Christmas.
So the New Yorkers I know wanted this in a big way. Sometimes when the people want something bad enough they get it...good and hard.
If my father behaved like that with my wife I'd throw him out of the house and consider a permanent "ban." I'd let him know in no uncertain terms: you either respect my wife or stay away.

Yikes, no kidding. Sorry you had to endure that mamabear.

"It is well-balanced, it protects the Second Amendment," said Senate Republican leader Dean Skelos of Long Island. "And there is no confiscation of weapons, which was at one time being considered.
There it is... compromise. There is no confiscation of weapons... for now!

Yeah, we were in his house though and it was in the middle of a family party. So to up and leave was not practical. Apparently later my husband made it clear if there was any more nonsense like that we were going home before Christmas if we had to. He is just like that. He is a very emotional being and he does not have a bridle on his toungue as much as I or my husband does.

Just for clarification, the NY STATE Legislature is voting on this bill that will cover the entire state. Bloomberg is MAYOR of NYC and only has jurisdiction within the city. Of course his city laws are tougher than state law.
You are correct. Thanks for the clarification. But unfortunately, as NYC goes so goes the rest of the state. I really do feel sorry for the law-abiding, non-criminal citizens who must suffer the yoke of further oppression due to the actions of a handful of nutjobs.

I think we have a problem here in this country. There is the big city. Then there is the suburbs and rural areas. For example Chicago politics dominates Illniois. S. Illiniois is a lovely place, could I live there, no way. NY is much the same. It is dominated by NYC, long island, and Albany the rest of NY does not count. I know fifty star on the flag looks real nice, but perhaps some states need to break up for their own good. Let the liberals feed on themselves.
Note: that this would not help me on family obligated trips as my in laws live on Long Island. But they did a good job raising their son, and they love their grandchildren so I am thankful for that.

Ban possession of any high-capacity magazines regardless of when they were made or sold. Going forward, only clips able to hold up to seven rounds can be sold in the state. Clips able to hold 7-10 rounds can be possessed, but cannot be loaded with more than seven rounds. If an owner is found to have eight or more bullets in a magazine, he or she could face a misdemeanor charge.
Require ammunition dealers to do background checks, similar to those for gun buyers. Dealers will be required to report all sales, including amounts, to the state. Internet sales of ammunition will be allowed, but the ammunition will have to be shipped to a licensed dealer in New York state for pickup.
Police will have to create a registry of assault weapons. Those New Yorkers who already own such weapons would be required to register their guns with the state.
Most controversially, the New York law will require therapists, who believes a mental health patient made a credible threat of harming others, to report the threat to a mental health director, who would then have to report serious threats to the state Department of Criminal Justice Services. A patient's gun could be taken from him or her, as well.
Stolen guns should be reported within 24 hours.

background checks on ammo purchases????
and New Jersey"one of 18 new gun bills submitted to the legislature would require gun buyers to submit to a psychological evaluation. "
i like the bill in CA, all firearms must be kept in locked boxes except during use....seems to me the firearm would be OUT at all times as its doing its assigned job of protecting me from intruders??????
i really am bothered by the therapist rule, one leftard quack could ruin your whole day, just because most feel firearms are bad and soldiers are evil.

Thankfully, Harris County was only marginally blue. if you put the 'other' votes toward Romney we would be blue (thanks Ron Paul), but only marginally.

I'd be tempted to agree to this one on the condition that I get to "evaluate" and approve every mainstream news "reporter" before they can use their First Amendment rights.
