New York is set to pass a new AWB, as well as limiting magazine sizes to SEVEN rounds.

I'll bet you $1,000 that at least one key NY legislator with an "impossible to get carry permit" is carrying a 1911. Bingo, a 7-round limit instead of 6, or 5, or zero.

I hope New Yorkers wake up soon. :banghead:

When I saw 7 I said everyone would go to a 1911 now. That would also be my choice if it is picked up nationally. If you only have 7 they need to count.

My thinking is that they want to do away with ALL semi-suto handguns too... most revolvers hold 6 rounds.

Well the way my FIL was going on they practically stormed Albany and demanded it. Utterly ridiculous and totally arbitrary. Hope they are happy. No way in the world I would consent to live in a state like that.

OT, but related story...

WifeGBiv and I send out a LOT of holiday cards. We come from different parts of the country, have lived lots of places, keep up with colleagues from past jobs, have family spread around all over. I was raised in NYC, but evacuated more than 25 years ago. I still have many relatives that refuse to leave there.

Here is the back side of our holiday card this year....
I was fed up when I put it together in late November. "Why not send a message?", I figured.

This card reached the four corners of the country. To date, we've received about 15 comments, all positive. A few phone calls from old friends calling to say hello and express solidarity. Several emails in the same vein. Even WifeGBiv's boss (VP of a F-500 company based in California) commented favorably to her on a call last week. Not only did people take notice, they "got it".

To date, not a single word pro or con from anyone in NY.

On one hand, they deserve what they get.
On the other hand, a foothold in NY is still a foothold.

My Father in law is supremely angry with me. When my husband left N.y he was an atheist liberal, gun hating good old NYker. Now he is a baptist, conservative, CHL holding Virginian that carries a gun just about everywhere he can.

When I say he is angry with me, I mean it. No tongue in cheek. He spent about an hour blaming me for the massacres in CT. I got to say about two sentences while he yelled at me. Not complaining, just telling y'all how it is. He said I should not be permitted to own any weapons...why...cause there a children in the house and blah blah blah......never mind we have our guns Ina safe...that is not good enough for him. Apparently, I don't love my children like he loved his.....blah blah blah. Yeah it was a fun Christmas.

So the New Yorkers I know wanted this in a big way. Sometimes when the people want something bad enough they get it...good and hard.

I have consistently cautioned folks to be careful for what they ask for because they just might get it.

If they wanted something different, they could make it happen. Bloomberg does what he does with his constituents' permission. I feel sorry for them, but if that's what they want then they can have it. But I don't want any of that mess over here!

Just for clarification, the NY STATE Legislature is voting on this bill that will cover the entire state. Bloomberg is MAYOR of NYC and only has jurisdiction within the city. Of course his city laws are tougher than state law. :nono:

I take it he wasn't on the phone.

Why did you not kick him out of your house, if that it is where you were.

I know I wouldn't have gone to NY for Christmas.

I have a family member that's a NYC cop.
He comes down once a year to Dallas for a convention.
I introduce him to my friends as the SS Officer from NYC.

Then I remind him....WE'RE ALL ARMED IN TEXAS!
Last time I showed him my AR 10 in .308.
He laughed and said even being a cop he could not own one in NYC.
I told him the American's CAN own, just not the Republic of NY.

It's all in good fun.
He's invited me to NY several times.
I keep telling him I won't go to any commie state.

I thought modern 1911s had 8-round magazines?
