I can think of no one better than ourself.
They say people get the government they deserve. That's true for many of the problems in the world.

"Who is to blame?"
That's the problem, everyone is trying to point fingers, and no one is asking the right question. The questions that need to be asked is "Who can fix it", and "what can be done to make it better"

There is a lot of defeatism going around, I think attitude makes the times bad. I listen to people and hear all the time how awful thing are. There are things that need to fixed but it isn't that awful. Look around the rest of the world and see if you can find a better place. Lok around and see if you can find a place that has cheaper gas. Of those place are they a place we would realy want to live? (Mexico Venesuela, Suadi Arabia) Gas has gotten expencive, but the prices are actually starting to ease down, and the prices are actually cheaper today in inflated dollars than it was in Jimmey Carters time. There are no lines there are no shortages.

Is this the worst of times? We have aq litle war that is seems to be winding down. There are casualtys, but compared to previous wars we are getting off lightly as a nation. We haven't had to sacrifice much at the homefront in our creature comforts. Our rights right now are looking pretty good. Young folks don't have to deal with the interuption of our lives because of a draft. We for the first time in most of our lives have the Supreme Court agreeeing that the RKBA is an individual right, and we in Texas have earned the right to carry our guns.

What do we do about energy? There is no answer. its about a whole host of solutions and not simple plans.

We can drill and exploit all the oil that that we can find. We as a nation spend a lot of effort on keeping driillers from finding and producing oil. Some of this plain old politics, the leftist don't want to yield to the conservatives. There is lot of oil to be found in the East and West Coasts. Instead the leftist would rather just let the Red Communist Chinese help themselves 60 miles off our coast. Some of this due to plain old ignorance of the citizens and our politicians. The industry should be educating folks about drilling. It is more than environmentally safe in that it helps the ecology by providing false reefs. Spills are rare, and the very rare accidents are quickly remediated. Shipping millions of gallons of crude from all over the world is the real danger.
There are millions of gallons of oil sands and shale oil available in the Rockys and in Canada. That are available yet Congress keeps throwing roadblocks up. Yet our leftist are throwing roadblocks against even searching out the Canadian oil Sands. One might ask, "Where the all the money comes from to get this new oil ?". Errmm ... Obscene windfall oil company profits of course.

T. Bone has a point we cant drill our way out of this. We need a multi-front approach. All of his ideas should be implemented. windmills especially off our coasts and natural gas exploitation are great ideas. So is nuclear power and non food sourced agri-energy. While using corn to make ethanol is dumb idea, we could be making ethanol methanol out of corncobs and and other leftovers. We could be harvesting kudzu and distilling it into ethanol. Many of us would be installing solar power on our roofs if incentives like letting us write some of the initial costs off.

Another thing we need to do is to give up on this global warming thing. It doesn't exist. We are actually in a period of global cooling, There is no proof that global warming is man made. Global warming would just make more places habitable and more pleasant. I believe that Nova Scotia would be a far better place with palm trees and alligators.

Here is what you do, lunchbox.

Set your own standards high.

Marry a good woman who loves you and shares your core beliefs in what is good and sets high standards for herself.

Have children, provide them with a good education. Home school if necessary should your public schools be trash. Set high standards for your children.

What is most important is to take the lead in your family to show them to The Way, The Truth, and The Life.

That is what you can do to change things.

I was looking for something positive to post here, and you beat me to it!!!

Not to say that the discussion so far, has been totally gloom and doom bent...

We still have our freedom, guns, and the ability to enact changes if it gets too rough for those we elect to handle all of the challenges to those core values...

It is always darkest before the dawn...

Thats why I carry a light... :thumbs2:
