Re: 2011 Weight Loss Group
My body fat % is down, my weight is about the same, hovering around low 200s - but I've added almost 40-60lbs to each of the major lifts (bench, dead lift, military, squat).

Re: 2011 Weight Loss Group
Just found this thread! I've been working out the last few weeks trying to drop some pounds. I'm around 225 now. I'll post my progress.

Re: 2011 Weight Loss Group
Thanks for brnging this up. I ned some encouragement. The wife wants to do Weight Watchers, but I'm leaning towards the paleo caveman thing.
I have a sedintary job, so I need to walk when I'm off....and not mowing my yard.
I'm at 265.
Goal 210.
Waist from a 40" to a 34-36"

Re: 2011 Weight Loss Group
i can't find a link to the study, but read about it in the current issue of Men's Health... men who skip breakfast are 450 times more likely to be overweight than those who do eat breakfast. it's recommended to get at least 30-35% of your daily calories during breakfast, and to take in about 20-30 grams of protein. my breakfast normally consists of a breakfast taco using egg whites, a little salt and pepper, some grated cheese, and as small a tortilla as HEB makes. i usually put some chocolate milk in my coffee too (never could stand drinking it black), so i get a little protein from that too.
as far as the weight loss goes, i'm down to 182 as of this morning (from nearly 190 when i first weighed myself). i've built my endurance back up to a level where i feel i can get in a meaningful workout at least 4 days a week. i do very little weight training (not interested in bulking up, but i'll add some weight training once they finish remodeling the gym here at work), but no matter what type of cardio activity i do - cycling, jogging, elliptical - i ALWAYS do interval training, never just a steady pace.

I can't believe it's already been a quarter of a year since I last posted in this thread. I've gained about 5 pounds in the last several months, but I just started to eat breakfast and eat a little healthier. Summer, when I'm out doing stuff in the outdoors, will be when I lose most of the weight. I can't wait till the summer

Re: 2011 Weight Loss Group
...Actually, I just bought a scale the other day and just started keeping track. Here are my findings so far.
Morning weight with just skivies on : 223.6 lbs.
Weight after getting dressed and putting on daily gear including gun : 229.6 lbs.
Conclusion : I carry around six pounds of stuff all day.
As far as losing weight...I'll let ya know if it happens. If you don't hear back from me, that means it went the other way I don't want to play anymore.

Re: 2011 Weight Loss Group
update: i really started dropping the weight when i began cycling. taking the averages of multiple calorie counters online, i'm burning anywhere from 800-1300 calories per workout. i started out at 190 lbs, i was about 184 before i started cycling, and in 3 weeks of cycling i've dropped down to 178. i still have another 8 lbs to go and i have a feeling those last 8 will be the toughest, but i've managed to find a new hobby that i love. i used to ride motorcycles but had to sell mine a few years ago, i get the same feeling riding a bike as i did when riding a motorcycle, with the added benefit of getting some serious cardio in the process.

Re: 2011 Weight Loss Group
i started at 190 about 2 or so months ago, my goal by the end of April was to be down to 175. i weighed myself april 30th and was 178, a little disappointed, but the past 3 mornings my scale has shown 175 so it just took me a couple extra weeks to get there. by the end of June i should be at 170, +/- 2 lbs.
my "normal" weight seems to be somewhere between 165 and 170, but i am building some muscle in the process so i'm more concerned about body fat % and what i see in the mirror than what the scale shows. i'm eating about 2500 calories a day but burning anywhere from 500-800 on my daily bike rides. my weekend bike rides are quite a bit longer and more intense, probably closer to 1500+ calories burned.
my advice for anyone wanting to exercise to lose weight... find something that's fun and you're more likely to stick with it. i did the elliptical for a while but it was just too boring, i still hit it up maybe once or twice a week, or if it's raining outside and i can't ride, but i absolutely love cycling and it just so happens to have led to the quicker weight loss i've been seeing over the last month.

Re: 2011 Weight Loss Group
Well, I've finally gotten around to doing something about my weight and general health. Those of you who've met me know that I am a fat tub of goo.
I worked out a trade deal with a personal trainer recently where she is whipping my fat butt into shape in exchange for me building and hosting a bangup website for her with a cart system for selling her nutritional products and promoting her personal training services. So I started working out with her on Monday, two weeks ago. The workouts are (for me) pretty hard, but I am amazed at how much I actually can do that I didn't think I was capable of. So I have a 1.5-2 hour morning workout in the gym on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and I do cardio stuff on the days in between. I can already tell a difference in how I feel, and my general sense of well-being. Plus, my appetite has gone down and my energy level has gone up. I haven't lost weight yet, according to my bathroom scale, but my clothes are starting to fit me better and friends at church are starting to ask me if I've been losing weight. So something is different.
The only thing is, my chronically messed up back is still a factor, and even though I haven't particularly injured it further by working out, It is more common than not that it hurts a lot afterwards just from all the increased motion. So I find that I have to take something for pain relief either just before or just after the workout so that I'm not all crippled up afterward. Then later, after the pain has subsided and the meds have worn off, I actually feel pretty good, all things considered.

Re: 2011 Weight Loss Group
it's nearing the end of May, i was hoping to be low-to-mid-170s by the end of June but i hit that goal a month early. this past week i've weighed consistently 173-173.5, hoping to get down to 170 by July
Re: 2011 Weight Loss Group
UPDATE: I am down to 182, goal 170, the last 12 pounds are the hardest so I am trying for 1 pound a week now,FL450 wrote:I'm in
Current weight 195
Goal 165-170
Current waist 34 with IWB Supertuck
Goal 34 with IWB Supertuck and IWB Mag Holder with out lying on the bed to button
Diet Reduced simple carbs and Saterated Fats
My waist is 34 with the Crossbreed IWB I can mow easily button my pants. After the first three months of generally watching our fat and carb intake with little results the wife and I went back to the Weight Watchers points plus system, that did the trick, I would like to be down to 165 by the holidays knowing I will gain a little so I dont go above my target of 170.
I love the sound smell of jet fuel in the morning.

Re: 2011 Weight Loss Group
Well I wasn't sure I'd be able to post here this year, but I can! At Christmas I was up to my heaviest ever of 260.
Simple changes like not eating late at night, cutting down on cokes, and smaller portions have me down to 247. We started working out this week and I'd love to get down to 225 by next Christmas and eventually an even 200 in another year or so.
