So what now everybody in Dallas gets to come forward and say they lost $2000?

I'm still in for rewarding this girl for bringing this money in when most people wouldn't. She should know people appreciate her honesty.

DPD may have a policy about the disposition of the money, but I think the important thing is what the law says about it. Is the process stated in this article dictated by law? It seems there should be some form of property law (or case law) regarding found property or money, rather than allowing the PD to decide where it goes.

My question would be, if that's the legal process, why wasn't it started back in February when the money was found? Doesn't seem like the Dallas PD made any effort find the owner. I'm not even sure how you could positively ID the rightful owner unless they happened to have recorded the serial numbers.

Thats why I have usually heard of them announcing that a significant sum of money was found, and to claim it you must be able to identify the amount.

At this point I do not care what Dallas wants to do. I will still donate my dollars if Charles set up the method. I'd like her to know that Texas CHL Forum people care and appreciate her values.

Whereas I agre with the general sentiment epressed by all (DPD's handling of this was shameful), the end result is just too cool.

Chase Bank opened a savings account for the young lady this afternoon, with a cash deposit of $1,000.

Anonymous gifts have come in (and continue to) totaling more than $1,500 more.

Unfortunately, the message sent by the City of Dallas was, "Cops and politicians are jerks."

But the message being sent from the community is, "Atta girl!"

According to this one, the anonymous donor that came forward is giving her $4000:

Who is running the fund and where can I donate?

I think Mr. Cotton will be setting up the fund, and per Teamless' request, he will create a new thread with the pertinent instructions.

Why are folks still sending her money, rather than full scholarships for some place with a good PoliSci program? Just 3 more years until she can start getting on the local ballots.

I'll spring an extra $ for someone in Dallas area to do a gun safety course and possible CHL course if she and family would so desire. We do encourage the 2nd Amendment.

Hopefully, they're putting this money in a scholarship for her.

If I were a rich man :nopity  I would definitely make sure she went to any college she wanted to.

If you would like to help Ashley Donaldson, you can do so at area Chase Bank branches in the name of the Ashley Donaldson Fund.
