Daylight Saving Time
I heard that Gov Abbott is keeping daylight saving time from now on. No more changing the time clock to winter hours. on ABC 13 News today. Calling it Texas Time. Must be passed by congress.
Re: Daylight Saving Time
As much as I love our Governor and as much as I love DST, I don't like the idea of having a different time from surrounding states!

Re: Daylight Saving Time
As noted in the original post, it doesn't take effect unless the US Congress also passes similar legislation. We won't be different from the nation.

Re: Daylight Saving Time
I despise Daylight Saving Time and more so as I get older and I'm against keeping it permanent. I would prefer that we stay on Standard Time. It is worthless and is unhealthy. There have been multiple studies that show changing time and a correlation of increased heart attacks. Plus UT SW Medical Center conducted a study and mentions the following:
Every cell in our bodies keeps track of the time, and changes in daily patterns can trigger stress in our brains and cause sleep deprivation, disorientation, and memory loss. It can also lead to difficulties with learning, social interactions, and overall cognitive function.

We already do, and that won't change. New Mexico is on Mountain Time.Mel wrote: Wed Jun 25, 2025 10:05 pm As much as I love our Governor and as much as I love DST, I don't like the idea of having a different time from surrounding states!
The sooner I get behind, the more time I have to catch up.

I thought it was kids waiting for the bus in the dark during Winter was the reason it could not be year round.
I love the fall change, hate the spring change.

Re: Daylight Saving Time
The current law allows states to opt out of DST. e.g. Arizona, Hawaii. Texas could opt out back to standard time without permission. But to keep DST full time would require the US Congress to change the law.Take Down Sicko wrote: Wed Jun 25, 2025 7:54 pm I heard that Gov Abbott is keeping daylight saving time from now on.
