5 officers, 20 shots fired, 8 hits...
Whats that, about an 8% (per officer) accuracy rating??? I dunno, my math is a bit fuzzy sometimes...
Death by cop seems to be the moral of this story though...And its sad...I don't fault the officers here...
But I thought the NYPD carried non-lethals???
Apparently not in this case...

Yeah but, don't you have to figure out the average of officers involved...5???KBCraig wrote:8/20 = 40%stevie_d_64 wrote: 5 officers, 20 shots fired, 8 hits...

That means an average of 4 shots, right??? Per officer???
But yeah, the accuracy might be improving...

So between one and two shots per officer made hits...And the other 3 or 4 possibly missed...If you average it out...
I know...I'm being a pain...

Okay, the officers averaged 1.6 hits each (8 total hits / 5 officers).
The officers fired an average of 4 shots (20 total shots / 5 officers).
Each officer's hit percentage is 40% (1.6 hits / 4 shots * 100 = 40).
The officers fired an average of 4 shots (20 total shots / 5 officers).
Each officer's hit percentage is 40% (1.6 hits / 4 shots * 100 = 40).
Remember, in a life-or-death situation, when seconds count, the police are only minutes away.

I think I didn't carry a two, or missed a decimal point...
Ugh...Its the simple math that messes you up every time!!!
Like programming a mission profile for a Mars mission in English units and loading the metric conversion instead...
You end up making a nice 10 billion dollar crater on a planet that we won't visit physically, much less look at a hole in the ground for a 100 years or so...
Somebody at that time will walk up on it and say, "Hey, who did this?"

Re: NYC shooting...
As barres demonstrated, the ratio remains the same. If there were 20 officers firing one shot each, the hit ratio was still 8/20, or 40%.stevie_d_64 wrote:Yeah but, don't you have to figure out the average of officers involved...5???KBCraig wrote:8/20 = 40%stevie_d_64 wrote: 5 officers, 20 shots fired, 8 hits...
