A bit of a lighter one.

So i was cleaning my new 1911 today. Was detail stripping it to just practice taking it apart, when the hammer and hammer pin comes out, and I set it aside.

And the dang thing rolled away into oblivion.

Thats the last time I take anything apart without a tray.

get a stereo speaker magnet! great for putting into a tube sock and "sweeping" for little parts. I once found the cylinder stop that somehow fell out of my Charter arms revolver this way. I was shooting in a couple places in a 40 acre tract. I went to the places I shot and sure enough, after some careful sweeping, I found the thing!
I used a plastic mallet and seated it back really well. I guess not well enough! I lost the darnd thing again the next time I shot it... never found it that time! I just smithyed me up another one real quick!
