I decided in October to apply for a CHL but was not sure what was required. I found this site and the information provided is terriffic! Great job on providing accurate information on this forum.

Prior to taking the CHL class I spent time reviewing the information in this forum and followed the advice in the checklist section. Everything went very smooth. My timeline is:

Applied on-line~10/23
Received packet with pin 10/30
CHL Class 11/4
Mailed Packet 11/5
Packet Received 11/7
Status changed to Processing Application 12/7
Status changed to License Issued 12/21
License should arrive next week

During the "wait" I purchased a home safe and the lock box with cable. The home safe was simple to bolt down, spent a bit more time getting the lock box the way I wanted it in the vehicle. I settled on removing the bolts in the console, drilling the lock box and bolting the box in the bottom of the console. Didn't take long and it wont be loose in the vehicle.

Just waiting on the mail now!

That is great. It has been 67 days since I mailed my app and it still shows processing app. I called on Monday and was told that they were still waiting on my background check from Travis county. You must be from either Tarrent or Harris county. I have read they are really fast unlike Travis. So be safe and enjoy, and let us know when you do your wally walk.
