For what it's worth, I asked my instructor whether having a security clearance would speed the process. He said "No."

Practically, all it could mean is that the FBI check would be quicker, but the local (county) check would not be affected.

My instructor said the same. Keep your chin up!!! It's not that bad. It will give you time to order a holster or two, check them out, go to the range. :thumbs2:

I already ordered a KD holster cause the wait is so long on em. I hope to get out to the range this weekend, but my mother in law is visiting soooooooo we all know how that goes.

At least my wife is frying up some venison backstrap and everyone else thinks it's chicken fried steak!!! We'll tell em after dinner. :cheers2:

Good luck! The wait really is the hardest part. Mine took almost 6 months because while in college, I moved appartments every year, and was in several different counties, at least, I'm guessing that's why. A couple of years ago, an aquaintance of mine, who had already been out of the Navy for 2-3 years told me that he just had to take the class and send his paperwork in because he was already cleared due to security clearance. He basically said he was the right hand man of the admiral when he was assigned to the Harry S. Truman! The Truman hadn't even finished sea trials at the time! But because his security clearance was so high, he wouldn't have to have the background check done! He's the brother of a close friend of mine, and to this day he swears that the Navy could call him up at any time and he'd have to go because of his experience on the Truman. Hehe. He's kind of their family goober.
