Prayer Request - Updated

Whether the need is great or small, there is power in prayer, especially when God's people raise their voices together.

Prayer Request - Updated

Post by Keith B »

Last Wednesday my brother-in-law Rick was helping repair roof damage from wind on his Mom and Dads small country church in Southeast Missouri. The ladder he was using didn't get latched well and he fell about 12 feet shattering his L2 vertebrate and pelvis. They flew him into St. Louis and perfornmed surgery on Friday to put two small rods in place of the vertebrate. They will let the pelvis heal on its own since it was not out of place. They were very lucky as he had no spinal cord damage and never lost feeling in his legs or lower body. He was up and walking a little yesterday. I didn't post this last week as we were waiting on final diagnosis and outcome of surgery.

The big issue is he is a farmer and will be basically out of commision all summer. The one blessing is that his oldest son has just graduated with his Masters in Agriculture, is back home and has not taken abother job yet. Also, Rick's Dad had semi-retired from the farm, but can still help too. They will be able to take his spot on the farm this summer.

The hardest thing right now is they are 3 hours from home in the hospital and they have a 13 year old at home and another son 4 hours away in college. Older brother is there for the 13yo, as is Grandma and Grandpa, but Mom and Dad are away and it is hard for him. Please keep their family in your prayers for a quick return home and a speedy recovery.

Thanks!!!

That's rough. My wife's family are farmers from Nebraska. I know how important it is to keep the farm working. My thoughts and prayers are with them.

I will pray for his speedy recovery.

We will pray also; for his entire family. This will be a time of trials, even if he recovers fine. A farmer having to watch others do his work is not an easy thing to endure. May the Lord give him healing and emotional strength.

Just an update on Rick. He came home from the hospital yesterday (3 hours away) and is in pretty good spirits and moving around fairly well considering his injuries. he is now back close to the family support system, so that will be a big plus in his recovery. They have a hospital bed set up for him on the main floor of their 100 year old home as the bedrooms and baths are on 2 & 3 and he can only traverse about 4 steps currently. Luckily, he can go over to the in-laws house about 2 miles away for a main floor shower. No one took my suggestion of a bar of soap and water hose out on the porch. That may be because the temps there are below freezing up there. "rlol"

In all seriousness, Rick asked me to thank all of those praying for him as he doing extremely well and feeling OK considering the severity of his injuries. He knows there have been many healing blessings come his way already during this time of struggle.

God bless you all,
Keith
