DPS Hours

Post by nedmoore »

I think that the DPS might outsource some of their data input, website, etc. I received an email from them at 6:19 a.m. I find it hard to believe that someone was in Austin CHL office that early. Call me crazy, but it just got me thinking.

Some of our (NASA) "official" email goes out at strange times, too. I gotta believe that it's cued up the day before to go out at a slow traffic time.

But then, I suppose it's possible that some of our upper management actually logs office time on Sunday evening.

We've received excuses why Mrs. Oldgringo's application has been held up after 1700 zulu. I can just about garauntee you there are no 'worker bees' in the office past 5:01 local time (1701 zulu).

My wife was on hold at 4:50. When the clock hit 5:00 she was disconnected. No good-bye. No sorry. No nothing but click.

If you are in the Central (Daylight Savings) time zone, 0501L = 1001Z = 5:01 am; 5:01 pm = 1701L = 2201Z.

You're in England? That's so cool that you're getting a Texas CHL.

5:01 is actually 2201Z. (daylight savings time)
1701 is 24 hour time.
24 hour time is used by the Military and some other government and private entities. Zulu time is used mainly in aviation, the idea being that planes can fly through several different time zones in a flight.

Either way, getting someone to answer the phone in Austin is always a gamble. I too have been waiting on hold at around 5 and got the same hang up treatment. They forget who pays their check sometimes, it seems.
