CHL Delay - Excuses 0r Quotas?

Post by Oldgringo »

Today my wife received her 3rd reject of her fingerprints! :banghead: These are the same fingers she was born with as far as I know - they are what they are.

Mrs. Oldgringo and I took the same course from the same guy on the same day, had the first set of prints taken by the same guy on the same day in the Cherokee County Sheriff's office, had the same photograher, etc., etc and filed on the same day, 17 December 2007. I've had my CHL for nearly a month. BTW, the Cherokee County Sheriff's office is where DPS and the local authorities process all of their bad guys. So, why are Mrs. Oldgringo's fingerprints not acceptable to the DPS for her CHL?

Do y'all reckon there is some gender bias against a 66 year old Grandmother having a CHL or is it some geek in the basement showing what a good job he/she is doing by rejecting applications? :rules:

You might have to bite the bullet and go to the fingerprint service that dps utilizes.

It is claimed that the new-fangled "electronic" (scanned, I believe) fingerprints have fewer rejections than the old-fashioned inked prints.

For $10, that's not a big problem and this would all be behind us if that apparent requirement was stated up front. Now comes the question: why were my fingerprints accepted when Big Mammou's were rejected? She has much prettier hands than I.

I hate dealing with government (you fill in the blank)!

Well, we mailed in electronic fingerprints taken by the Alabaster, AL PD today. That will be the THIRD (3rd) sets of prints for Mrs. Oldgringo. She's using the same fingers she's had for some 66 years and is running out of fingers. :tiphat:

You reckon the fingerprint problem may lie with the fingerprint reader? :rules:

If you go the electronic way, call DPS or look at the website to see where you can get it done. I asked about it Monday at the DMV in Webster, and they told me that they dont do it there. Only in the district offices. And make sure you have cash. I dont know why you can renew your license online with a credit/debit card, but you cant do the same thing at the DMV. Mine was a commercial license, so I had to go in person. :mad5

On Friday (4/4/08), the website, after a couple of e-mails and a phone call, was changed to again read "Processing Application" for Mrs. Oldgringo. Her initial application (fingerprints, photo, scores, etc. taken by the same guys as the Oldgringo's) was submitted along with that of the Oldgringo on 17 December 2007 :confused5 . The Oldgringo received his permit in mid February of '08. :fire

In simple math, mid-December to mid-April is about four months or roughly 120 days :banghead: . Whadda' ya' tink, is this a great state or what  ?
