Plano Presbyterian is now officially marked 30.06
I have worked at Plano Presbyterian for going on 5 years now. Up until the past week they only had the "State Law prohibits carrying a handgun on these premises" signs. I made sure to never bring it to their attention but apparently someone did as they have left those up and added compliant 30.06 signs to accompany them. Sigh................
Re: Plano Presbyterian is now officially marked 30.06
I guess they are hoping the signs will prevent a shooting similar to the Florida hospital shooting from happening

Actually, I think it stems from the issue of the nurse with the CHL that carried into Harris Methodist Hospital H-E-B. Presbyterian Hospitals are owned by Texas Health Resources, the same company that owns Harris Methodist. They are going through their facilities and making sure they meet the letter of the law for posting now.

Then we might have seen one another some where along the way.RCP wrote:I have worked at Plano Presbyterian for going on 5 years now.
I would not be shocked to see the parking lots get the same signage to. The Dallas campus has had the signs for as long as I have worked for Texas Health. The new parking garage here on Presby Dallas is 30.06 and has been since they build it from day one. Keith is right. One bad apple ruined it for the rest of us.

I'll Never Understand
Why any Business, Church Etc... Would want to bar a CHL Holder, who in the time of need could probably save lives and Prevent a massacre. And then when something does happen, people get shot up, or killed, they want Sympathy, asking the usual Question, "Why did this Happen", It Blows me away at how many people really seem to be scared of the Gun.

Nevermind. I thought it was a church you were talking about. But still. These hospitals are idiots. If it is a Christian Hospital then why not good guys carry there. Must indeed be run by effeminate WWJD "christians" that see Jesus as this effeminate pacifist (the Pansy Jesus as Josh McDowell calls him). Oh well, the result of 100 years of feminization of Christianity.

Uh, this is a hospital, not a church. I know of no churches posted in North Texas.Doug.38PR wrote:must be one of those lovey dovey Jesus-was-a-girly-guy churches that still thinks Christ was an effeminate pacificst......
I think your perceptions are way off on most churches. There are SEVERAL pastors on here that carry, and a big majority of the members here are active in their churches and I can guarantee they are not sissified by any means.
I will now stand down and let the pastors on here further verbalize their church doctrines and view!

The hospital is in name only. Harris Methodist and Plano Presbyterian are owned by Texas Health Resources, which has nothing to do with a church. These are leftover names from the early days when there were affiliations between the hospital and church.Doug.38PR wrote:Nevermind. I thought it was a church you were talking about. But still. And, BTW, I DO think that God is about love and kindness, but he also allows us to defend ourselves against Satin and evil in general.

Re: Plano Presbyterian is now officially marked 30.06
Yeah I caught that it was a Hospital when I googled it to try to go to what I thought was the church website.
I know there are pastors on this and other boards who carry. VERY glad to hear that.
Still, the mainstream church (of just about every denomination) is effeminate and weak (because they see Jesus as effeminate and weak). just a nice guy who let the world run over him but had a perky chirpy smile on his face all the way though. It is a false view of Christ (in effect, a form of idolatry)
For the most part, I attend church every sunday at one church or another every other Sunday. I am moving so I am in the midst of a transition.
At the church I am a member of currently, we actually had to cut out an official Sunday School class activity called "Guns for God" (an activity that was VERY popular and even drew visitors. first and second time visitors would become very social at shooting sessions and have a great time getting to know everyone). THis activity was canceled because someone complained that "that's not appropriate for church". So to appease this lovey dovey girl (It was said "some girl" complained...whether that was true or some wimpy sunday school teacher made the call I don't know) There is a lot of political correctness and pandering to not step on any toes at this church. And guess what, this is one of the largest Southern Baptist Churches in the south. No it's not some CBF liberal church. It's Second Baptist Houston.
Personally I don't carry on Sunday during worship as I believe I should keep business outside and have my full attention reverently on Christ. But other times I would carry if I could. (at Second it's kind of a gray area as to whether you can carry as it has a private school on it's campus)
Christ is about love and kindness, but most people who say "love" don't even understand what the word means. Love isn't just giving somebody a hug and a valantine card or not stepping on their toes. Love can be showing someone you care about them. Love can also be a kick in the hind end to show them you care about them. Love can also be putting your life on the line for someone else because you care about them. Love can also be killing an evil doer to protect someone you care about whether in war or a one on one situation.
Love and kindness are only one aspect of God's character. God is also about justice and reverence. Worship of him isn't just coming to a building to pay homage to him or learn about him 1 day a week. It is going out the other 6 days of the week and taking up the responsibilities and dangers of being a man to perform your duty and, more to the point, your life as conformed to Christ's image. Remember, Christ was also the one that went into the temple and kicked out money changers (violently)

Doug,
In many ways you are correct. The feminization of the church in America is real.
I am one of those pastors who carries daily. I am a chaplain in the Navy reserve and have a combat tour in Iraq. I sweated out whatever estrogen was left in my system at that time.
There are many of us who have not fallen into this soft message. Jesus is the source of life and peace. We should always pursue that which is gentle and holy. However, we are not to be weak, soft and victimized.
Move up to Dallas. I have a church where you will feel at home.

Re: Plano Presbyterian is now officially marked 30.06
I'm sorry, didn't mean to take this off track with my simple misunderstanding of what Plano Pres. was.
Memorial Hermann in Houston has a 30.06 posting engrained in stone in the outer wall of their entrance with proper colors and all. I don't know about the Medical center. I don't understand it. With all the gang bangers from knife and gunshot wounds that must stumble in there looking for help and/or trouble (maybe they are messed up on crack) I would think you would want good men there armed if a situation came up.
