Question for a friend new
A friend of mine just got her CHL a couple of weeks ago. She just noticed that instead of having F for female it has M for male, but she is a female. Don't worry I asked her boyfriend to confirm this and he guarantees that she is a female
.
What are the steps she needs to take to correct this??? Can she legally carry until it's fixed?

Re: Question for a friend new
Well, she can have a sex change operation, but that may not go over with her boyfriend.attila79 wrote:A friend of mine just got her CHL a couple of weeks ago. I would go the better route and contact the DPS at 1-800-224-5744 or email at chl@txdps.state.tx.us, let them know the issue and they should correct it for her.
As for legal, I don't think that would would be a big issue if everything else is correct. I bet a LEO probably wouldn't even notice it.

Wasn't there a King of the Hill episode that had almost this exact scenario? Must be a Texas thing.....

Re: Question for a friend new
Tell her not to wait, to contact DPS right away. They take the accuracy of information on the licenses seriously. When I got mine, I thought it sort of amusing that the license showed me to be a year younger than I really am. I called 'em, was assured that it needed to be corrected, and I had the replacement in about two weeks. I was told the incorrect plastic was good until the replacement arrived.

Re: Question for a friend new
She has made several calls staying on the phone for up to 20 mins, but no answer. She also emailed them two days ago, but still no reply. I know they are swamped right now, but any other ideas????
Re: Question for a friend new
She can send a letter with return receipt to show that she made a good-faith effort to correct the problem.

Thanks guys for your help. She finally got a response back. They asked her to reply to the email with her full name and drivers license number. I'm guessing they'll send her another license with her correct information.
