PRAISE THE LORD and PASS THE AMMUNITION!

Post by Oldgringo »

Mrs. Oldgringo received her plastic today! :fire Our mail carrier, bless his heart, forwarded it to us in Colorado.

She sent in her application on 18 December 2007. Subsequently, she sent in an additional three (3) sets of fingerprints. On the 152nd day, we sent a hard copy letter to Ms. Jan Coffey. On the 156th day, we e-mailed the Governor, the Lt. Governor, our State Senator and our Representative. The Governor's office and our State Senator got right on it. :txflag: The State Senator's office even called her the next day and told her that her CHL was in the mail. The Lt. Governor acknowlwedged her e-mail while our Representative, :grumble a Democrat, did nothing that we could tell.

About the next day after the e-mails, her status changed on the CHL website to Application Completed - license issued or certificate active. Is that an amazing coincidence or what? :thewave

Congratulations for Mrs. Oldgringo! :thewave

I've kept up with your continuing dilemma. Did David Dewhurst autograph her plastic?

Thank you.

No, the Lt. Gov's office acknowledged her e-mail and said they'd look into the matter. The Governor's office e-mailed her a copy of a letter they had sent to Col. Thomas Davis, DPS' Boss of Bosses. Our State Senator, Robert Nichols, office called the CHL and asked what the 'hey' and then called Mrs. Oldgringo and told her her license was in the mail. Such timing!

It's been an unnecessarily long and frustrating ordeal brought about (I believe) in part by one or more CHL lurkers and/or petty incompetents in that department. One set of prints rejected - maybe. Two (2) sets, taken by different people using different inkpads and a third (3rd) electronic set rejected - I seriously question.

From your comments, i take it you believe they have a couple folks down there lurking this forum.

I don't think it's "THEY"; however, I do believe there may be one or more disgruntled lesser employee/s of the department who are connecting the dots and delaying certain applications. For instance, there was at least one reply (Double Ought Spy -3 posts) to our several delay laments who attempted to justify the three (3) fingerprint rejections and who I've never been seen nor heard from since. Maybe I'm paranoid?

This question of CHL lurkers has been raised previously. Watch the replys and 'handles'. and draw your own conclusions.

No, I believe someone down there is lurking this forum. I have made a few choice comments about how sorry they all are in that department.Guess who isn't even entered in the system after two and a half months?

P.S. I have been watching your dilemma unfold and could feel your total frustration with the DPS. I am glad to read they finally got it right. Nice job of staying in their tree.

No, "they" don't do much of nothing "they" don't have to do :rules: . "They" drug it out past our time to leave Texas for the summer and our mail carrier, bless his heart, :txflag: forwarded it himself after we had left him a note to be on the lookout for a DPS letter.

I think Mrs. Oldgringo may hold the record (160 days +/-), :banghead: thus far, for the longest approval time. Anybody :mad5 got a longer wait?

Well, Mrs. Oldgringo finally had her CHL forwarded (160 days) to our summer digs in Colorado. I carry something (.380 - .45 acp) pretty much everytime I leave the house or the RV park. Mrs. Oldgringo wonders what's the big deal and won't wear her CC fanny pack stating, "you :fire can handle it"?

Go figure :banghead:
