League City PD web site: http://www.lcpd.comLEAGUE CITY — The police department will hold testing for potential officers June 27 to fill 13 openings.
The department will pay for noncertified candidates to go through the police academy if they pass the written and physical tests.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or a GED with 12 hours of college credit and be between 21 and 36 years old, Sgt. Dan Krieger said.
Candidates can be as old as 44 if they have five years of military or police service.
Cadet officers can earn $34,100 if they aren’t certified and $47,800 if they are, Krieger said. First-year officers will earn $51,000.
I don't understand why police departments are having so much trouble hiring. It seems like a lot of people are looking for work or have lousy jobs. I do understand that many people are disqualified by criminal records.
