Help finding a holster

Post by LedJedi »

I once saw a really nice holster with a unique carry method that I'm thinking about buying. However, I can't find the web page I originally saw it on. I'm hoping one of you guys knows where I can find it or something similar.

It's a shoulder harness, but it doesn't carry under the arms, it carries on the chest just above the chest muscle with about a 45 degree cant.

It's very similar to this one but it would be above the chest instead of below

You may be thinking of the Chesty Puller rig that is sold by simplyrugged.com

nope, those are close but not it...

I think i got it figured out. I remembered that I saw it in a cheaper than dirt catalog so i went looking through their website. It was this picture.

It was before I was more familiar with shoulder rigs. I think i was just mistaken and thought that the rig would hold the gun in the position as shown in the photo on your chest instead of under the shoulder. I see now that i just didn't understand the rig from the picture :)

sucks. i spent about 2 hours looking through google images for the holster before I remembered.

Thanks for the hand

(ironically that's basically the same rig i'm wearing daily now that I just wrote a review on. lol)

how would you conceal a gun carried on top of your chest anyway? I guess you were not asking about a concealment holster...

Of course I can't figure how shoulder holsters work without a heavy cover garment anyway. Not only would I not be able to conceal with a shoulder holster, but it would impede the movement of my left arm.

There are some clever solutions to these questions out there. Here's one:

Maybe, maybe not. I find some guns fit so well in it I could (almost) forget I'm wearing them (e.g. Kahr PM40) and others a bit larger (e.g. Kahr PM45 / G36) require other adjustments to be comfortable. It's highly dependent on body build. Concealment is outstanding, and no heavy garments are needed. Unless you allow someone to hug you, they'll never know you're carrying. Most folks I know who've tried the holster I suggested like them a lot. If you haven't found another solution you're happy with, it might still be worth a try.

I like that Idea of the holster but would it conceal my XD 45 4" service model? I am 6' 175lbs and slender to medium build.

For someone with a slender build, I don't think this holster would conceal the service model comfortably. The compact model would probably work with the short magazine.

A good inside the waistband holster like the Comp-Tac Infidel with either the standard belt clip or the shirt tuck clip would probably be a better solution for you. Someone with a slender build can conceal a lot of gun this way when the rig is positioned properly behind the hip.
