Out Of State Background Checks ??

Post by pdubyoo »

I have a question that I'm sure someone on this forum can answer.

I live in Harris County, but my employer is in Ft. Lauderdale. FL. I work from home as a regional account mgr for my employer. Anyway, I know that Harris County will be requested for a background investigation, but since my employer is from out of state, does DPS request a background investigation from my employer's county (Broward) in Florida also?

Does anyone have experience with this scenario? If so, how did it effect the processing time, if any?

Thanks! :tiphat:

I have lived in DFW and worked from the Dallas area for companies in Orlando, FL, Philadelphia, PA and Seattle, WA (over the past 10 years). I don't know that it slowed the process down any. It took about 105 days from receipt to plastic in hand for me earlier this year.

I can say that if you work in Harris county be ready for a long long long long wait. Their field investigations seem to be taking longer than any other county in the state.

I did receive the "Gulf Coast Delay" letter about 10 days ago. From discussions with others, the Harris County office's resources were only briefly interrupted from Ike. But I know that the hurricane will be used as a convenient excuse to justify the slow processing times from the county and from Austin.
I'm just concerned that, if they have to get some information from my employer's county in Florida, it will cause even further delays.
