Bayou Rifles
This organization is fantastic and a real pleasure to be a member of... plus the NRA and CMP association is the icing. Check them out if you're in the southern part of the Houston Metro area.

Re: Videos of Shots at Bayou Rifles
It looks like a nice range, the quality of the video is great.

Re: Videos of Shots at Bayou Rifles
Is that at the 25 and 50 yard lines? I thought only low power rifles were allowed there. I could not tell since the rules are a little vague.
Re: Videos of Shots at Bayou Rifles
I'm a little concerned that it appears you violated the range rules with the opening shot from that second video... You seem to be a little past the firing line there.
I'll guess that no-one else was around to watch you do this, otherwise you'd no longer be a member.
I am a member of Bayou Rifles as well, and would hate to see your actions cause the entire membership to suffer. I'd sure hate to see the requirement of RSO's at the Juliff range too.

Re: Videos of Shots at Bayou Rifles
It is the 25/50 yard range, and just about any rifle is allowed there - not just "low powered". You can shoot your Garand at 25/50 to get "on paper" before moving to longer ranges.
At the 3/7/15, .22 rifles used to be allowed, then no shoulder-fired weapons, and now I think we are back to .22 rifles allowed.
If the photographer was ahead of the line in that first shot of the second video, he was in violation - but I'd like to imagine he was more-or-less next to the shooter and slightly forward, but not over the line.

Cool thanks for the info. Every time I go to Bayou Rifles I seem to be the only one there.BobCat wrote:It is the 25/50 yard range, and just about any rifle is allowed there - not just "low powered". You can shoot your Garand at 25/50 to get "on paper" before moving to longer ranges.

I don't think there was a photographer was over the line. I'm sure that was a tripod holding the camera.
Re: Videos of Shots at Bayou Rifles
Very often, after work I am indeed the only one there.
If you shoot rifle at all, come out on a Sunday morning to check out the matches. The range is far from empty! First Sunday is long range (little road on the left, all the way back, to the 1,000 yard firing line. Second Sunday is across-the-course - 200 (standing slow fire, sitting rapid), 300 (prone rapid), and 600 (prone slow). Third Sunday (coming up!) is intermediate range - 600 yards in cool months, 300 when it is hot.
Garand match coming up Saturday, April 4th.
See you at the range!

Re: Videos of Shots at Bayou Rifles
Not to worry, the camera was setup up and locked on a tripod to the right of the shooting table during a cease fire and well out of the line of fire (still on the pad). No person was ever on the wrong side of the firing line while hot.PBratton wrote:I'm a little concerned that it appears you violated the range rules with the opening shot from that second video... I've been shooting guns and video for over 35 years. I know better than to man a camera even close to the wrong side of the firing line.

No club rules were broken in the creation of the above videos.
