Anyone use Metlife?

Post by mrvmax »

I live in Galveston county, but in Friendswood. I am less than pleased with TWIA who currently insures my home for hurricane, hail and wind. American National stopped covering these I think last year so I have them and TWIA. It took three months to get any money from TWIA after Ike and they have been difficult to deal with and are not any help when I call them. I understand they had many claims, but I pay premiums for a reason, I want what I pay for when I need it, I do not want excuses. I have looked at other insurance companies, but since I live in Galveston County I am off limits and they will not issue new polices. I can get Metlife via work but I have no idea how they are so I need first hand experience. Since TWIA is basically a state run agency I think the bureaucracy gets the best of them. I recently switched to MetLife because I get get it for a discounted rate through work. I was with Texas Farm Bureau. So far I have been very pleased with them and was able to save quite a bit of money.

Thanks, that is pretty much what I am considering, using them through work.
