Winchester 540 is discontinued. I have two pounds that do not seem deteriorated, and there is still some reloading data available on the web (e.g. M.D. Smiths pages at http://www.reloadammo.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ) - but I wonder about something.
I've read that Winchester 540 is "the same as" and "identical to" HS-6, and someone else said it is the same as HP38. Does anyone here have a clue whether these statements are credible?
For now I will just use old data with this old powder, and not assume it is "the same as" anything else. However, there are some knowledgeable people in the Forum and if someone knows about this, I'd sure appreciate reading about it.
Thanks.
Regards,
Andrew

I believe ww540 is the same as HS-6, but you should contact Hodgdon to be sure: http://www.hodgdon.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: Winchester 540?
Thank you!
I will contact them and see what they say. In the meantime I've found some old data for 540, for .45ACP and 9mm, so it certainly will not go to waste even if they do ot respond.
Thanks again.

Re: Winchester 540?
Per Hodgdon, and anyone can confirm, but the following are the same powders:
HS6 & W540 are the same.
HP38 & W231 are the same.
H110 & W296 are the same.
HS7 & W571 were the same, but both have been discontinued.
