I'm seting upp my dillon 550b for 9mm loads. I have 124 grain RN lead bullets. Unique powder.
Looking for OAL of the bullet and powder amounts. Lyman shows a 125 grain bullet (JHP) 1.075 OAL and 4.5 grains starting load for Unique (5.0 grains max). Would this load work for the lead RN 124 grain?
Want to adjust the OAL appropriately to continue on. Any help is appreciated.
Will be shooting them in a XD 9mm service model (4 inch barell).

Re: 9mm data???
Speer #12 shows 1.120" OAL for a 124 grain softpoint, and same for a 124 grain Gold Dot hollow point. These are jacketed, with truncated noses.
The same manual shows 1.135" for both 115 grain and 124 grain ball (jacketed). I use 1.135" for ball (jacketed or cast) and it feeds in Highpower and CZ 75B.
My standard 9mm load is 5.3 grains of Unique, 115 grain jacketed ball or 125 grain cast. 4.5 grains will probably cycle the action and not result an any leading. Speer #12 shows 5.2-5.8 grains Unique with their jacketed 124 grain bullets.
You are loading lead bullets so you can start lower with the powder charge. I think anywhere out to 1.120" will be ok for your 124 grain lead round nose.
I hope this helps. Sorry to ramble so.

Andrew

Re: 9mm data???
It does help. Thanks for the info! I have the OAL set at 1.11 now and will leave it there and try some at that OAL. I will try 4.5 grains of Unique and go from there.BobCat wrote:Speer #12 shows 1.120" OAL for a 124 grain softpoint, and same for a 124 grain Gold Dot hollow point.
