I AM IN THE PROCESS OF FILLING OUT MY APPLACATION FOR FLORIDA. I' m confused on question no#9 and no#13. I had a dwi in 1986 . I know i'm all right on it time wise WHAT I'M NOT SURE ABOUT IS NO#9 . IS DWI CONSIDERED A CRIME OF VIOLENCE AND DO I HAVE TO SEND IN PAPER WORK ON IT.

i got my florida permit last summer.  dwi not considered violent,etc.etc.  think it cost $117 and is good for 7 years.  another big benefit is they accept  military service as proof of firearms training. i sent them my dd-214(from 1971). this means if you are a vet, no class required.  also no semi/revolver issue.  one page application,passport picture, fingerprint card(they furnish),dd-214, a check for $117 and your all set(assuming fbi check ok).  if 2 attempts by fbi to read your prints fail, they do some kind of background check and issue the license.  in general, florida seems to want you to have a license as opposed to our dps who sometimes appear to be hunting for a reason to deny or delay.  could be that the florida agriculture department division of licensing issues the ccl as opposed to a law enforcement group here in texas.
