As mentioned in my "Howdy" thread, I have been having some holster issues that I need to solve. I have become lazy as of lately, since going back to school, my diet and workout routine have gone to the dogs, consequently I have gained about 20 pounds or so in the last year! Now, suddenly, my old standby IWB holster isn't so comfortable anymore. My pants are tighter, so slipping my G-27 in them is not easy, plus I'm getting the "love handles" or "spare tire" phenomena which makes it even less comfortable. SO...I must admit, I have been leaving the pistol in the truck more than necessary, and I hate it. Saturday, I took my nephew to the range because he wanted to shoot my better half's new S&W M&P 9mm. Well, when I bought her the gun, I also bought her a Safariland 568 "custom fit" holster. It's an OWB paddle holster made from their "Safari laminate" material with what appears to be a black leather panel on the outside for "looks". I slipped that paddle in at the 3 O'clock position and the gun was right where I like, high and tight, and above all, comfortable. I wore that holster for about 10 hours Saturday and when I got home and took my jacket off, it almost spooked me because I had forgotten I was wearing it!
Now, for the question portion: I have basically decided I need a new holster, and I'm sold on paddles now, at least for winter/fall carry when I'm wearing a jacket. Althought I like her holster, I want something a little nicer, with better retention. Although the 568 has adjustment screws, I spent almost an hour with it Sunday adjusting and adjusting to get it just right, and it seems to be either too loose, or so tight I can't draw without pulling the crotch of my pants up somewhere around chin level! So, does anyone have any suggestions? Nothing with snaps, straps etc over the top of the gun, but something with a good positive lock on the gun. I have looked into the Bianchi Paddle Lock, which has a "flipper" that you hit with your middle finger as you're acquiring a grip, which unlocks the weapon. I've also looked at Serpa holsters, but I really want something in leather, since the last Kydex holster I had seemed to wear finishes pretty fast. So, anybody with any suggestions/experience with a good leather paddle back holster with retention?

Re: Safariland 568
I know you are looking for a paddle holster and I hesitate to mention one that isn't but Tucker might have a paddle option for the holster I am going to suggest. Take a look at Tucker's Silent Thunder. It is a leather lined Kydex holster. It has very good retention - gun doesn't fall out even when I turn the holster upside down. The draw is excellent - good enough to shoot IDPA with. With the leather lining it is easy on the finish of your gun. It sits fairly high and is fully adjustable for cant angles.
