Help! I need a IWB for Feg PA-63

I know it is a PPK clone but is a little different size. Does anyone know of a more popular gun (such as PPK or Sig P232) that I could buy a holster in that would accomodate my Feg that matches the size really well?

Bianchi also makes one that is easily obtained. I got mine locally at the first shop I went to.

This was my carry holster used with my PA-63 when I first started carrying, up until I switched to a Hi-Power as my daily gun. I still use it when I carry the PA-63 on my belt.

As far as sizing goes, the PA-63 is a clone of the Walther PPK. The dimensions are the same in all respects, and even some of the parts for the Walther are usable in the FEG. Any holster made for the PPK will fit the PA-63 just the same.

Yes. Because it is not a common round, SD ammo in 9x18 is not very common. The only manufacturer of carry-grade ammo in 9x18 is Hornady, with their XTP round. It is available at Cabela's among other places, and you should be able to source it from a number of places online. For practice ammo, there are several options available. I shoot mainly S&B through mine, also available at Cabela's. Monarch makes steel-cased stuff (in the blue box) that can be found regularly at Academy; I have some, but have not tried it out yet. Apparently CCI makes Blazer aluminum-cased ammo in 9x18. I've not shot it before, so I don't know how well it works in the PA-63.

I started out shooting steel-cased Silver Bear, but it does not like to play well in the PA-63, and have had lots of feeding issues with the JHP stuff; the FMJ stuff worked OK, but doesn't feed nearly as well as brass-cased ammo. Every so often you will find someone offering surplus stuff. I bought 1200 rounds of copper-washed steel-cased S&B 9x18 ammo from AIM surplus 2 years ago for $175. It always fed and fired well in my PA-63, despite being steel-cased. You'll sometimes find Winchester-branded ammo in 9x18, but it's really just S&B ammo with a Winchester head stamp and a 30% markup.

Ammunition To Go carries some 9x18, including the Hornady XTP and S&B. If you travel near Brenham, you can buy it in person without having to pay shipping.

Don't buy ammo with bullets heavier than 95 grains. The PA-63 is not designed for heavier rounds, and shooting something heavier than 95 grains will cause excessive wear to the slide and frame. It's also painful to shoot. I accidentally bought a box of Wolf 100 grain ammo, and did not enjoy it one bit.

Don't buy a "heavy" recoil spring. It makes the gun unreliable with ejection issues and failure of the slide to travel completely back to cock the hammer. If you replace the recoil spring, do so with a factory-standard 11 pound spring.

Thank you MUCH for the advice on ammo both what to shoot and what not to shoot. I especially appreciate the advice regarding bullet weight and your recommendation that I do not replace the recoil spring (I was just about to order a 12 or 15 lb spring..it seems like you read my mind)...
