UT San Antonio

Colleges are places to learn, not die at the hands of attention-starved mass-murderers.

Of course, he is supposed to response in this fashion.

Unfortunately, the position of Police Chief has morphed from "Top Cop", to that of being a politician.

Why does it seem that LEO's like him, do NOT want people (in this case - Students) to protect themselves, which in essence actually helps them (the LEO's) in the long run? [less crime, performing car chases (which a mayor in S. Carolina forbade last week for their danger, etc.)].

Because most police departments are staffed and budgeted based on the number of calls for service. They generally get scored for efficiency based on the number of cases solved. I have long thought the better method for judging a police department is how low the crime rate is, but many people claim that is not affected by the police and therefore cannot be a valid judgment. There is some validity to their point, but Chiefs all claim the lowering of the crime rate as the results of the department.

NEISD in San Antonio they would rather pay out wrongful death lawsuits that have the students taught gun safety. This was from the stupidintendent of the district, Richard Middleton. His view was if you say "NO!" loud enough that wuould stop the crimes and violence.
