Gun safe?

Post by CrimsonSoul »

Anyone have this Gun safe? I'm thinking of buying it because I have three kids under age 5 in my house and I can keep this by my bed when I sleep. So any reviews that you guys/gals can throw in?

I am looking at one as well, but the cheaper version without the fingerprints. My CHL instructor recommended them, has one and uses daily.

maybe this thread'll help.
a while back, there was a thread about one of these types of safe's failing, and how to fix it. I can't find it at the moment (stinkin' job, always gettin' in the way of my hobby...).

I have one of the cheapies (the ~$60 job) and have not had any problems for the 3 years I've had it. good times.
FWIW, IIRC, AFAIK, FTMP, IANAL. YMMV.

I have a GunVault, also, and it is one of the cheaper ones that does not have the fingerprints. It has a code you program in it and you push the buttons, inter the code, and presto....it opens up! However, after about 6 months it quit working...no presto, so now I have to use the key to open it.

LOL...I was just getting ready to ask a similar question, so I'm glad you started this thread. I have a 9-month-old son who is rapidly becoming more mobile, and I'm going to need to do something soon to further secure my bedside pistol besides just keeping it in Condition Three. Our bedroom is on the second floor, we have a dog, and I know my son can't rack the slide on the pistol yet...but I would much prefer to keep it Condition One in a safe at night.

Anyway I'm thinking about getting one of these exact same safes, but without the biometric feature.

I have the same basic GunVault. It has gone now almost a year without require a battery change. I have had no problems with it, but would suggest you also get the security cable and lock it down to something permanent so that, if there is a break in, they can't just grab the safe and run.
