MD: Man shot by ex-wife refused to give up
Glen Arm, Maryland (middle of nowhere), Friday, June 19 -- The 59-year-old ex-wife of a 66-year-old man entered his home around 6 a.m. and shot him once in the "stomach" and once in the hand. He tackled her and held her down until police arrived. He was flown to the hospital and died there. She has been charged with first-degree murder.
No immediate motive is known, but he tried to get her evaluated for psychological problems several years ago.

The woman's residence is in Florida. Reading between the lines, it sounds like she might have driven all night to Maryland with the intent of confronting her ex.
There's a lot of this going around lately.

Fear, anger, hatred, and greed. The devil's all-you-can-eat buffet.

I noticed that also... anyone with ex-wife or ex-husband should be careful...seamusTX wrote:There's a lot of this going around lately.

If my posts sounds like I got a monkey on my back... it's actually a gorilla. Just don't get offended. :)
Re: MD: Man shot by ex-wife refused to give up
It does seem to be happening at an alarming rate. We had just talked about the 40 yr. old woman that shot and killed her husband.

Re: MD: Man shot by ex-wife refused to give up
There must be 100 million divorced people in the U.S., and another 100 million married people. Most of them don't kill each other. But, as this disastrous incident shows, a partner in a relationship that involves hatred or violent jealousy really has to watch his six. I hesitate to mention mental illness, because most mentally ill people never commit a violent act, but it is sometimes a factor.
I set up an alert for the other case that you mentioned, but it hasn't produced any news.

Thanks, Jim, I would like to know how the other case turns out, too. I guess it is just hard to understand the mind of someone that can kill another human being in cold blood.
Yeah, there are many divorces every day and some of them really get messy, but don't necessarily end up with murder.

It's like the old saying, "If mama isn't happy, no one's happy."
Conclusion: Keep mama happy.

Re: MD: Man shot by ex-wife refused to give up
I've heard of quite a few murders where the murderer blamed the victim for all their problems in life. Something along the lines of, "If so and so hadn't come into my life I'd be rich right now, in perfect health, and happy.... etc." It's a dangerous path to travel down.

Re: MD: Man shot by ex-wife refused to give up
As cold as it may sound (and please let me extend my deep felt condolences to the man's family) this plainly demonstrates that even shooting someone twice... once in the stomach or abdomen... may not stop or incapacitate them. According to the article he chased her out of the house and tackled her, holding her until police arrived after being shot in his bedroom. I've seen no pictures of either the suspect or victim, but I would imagine he was bigger than his ex. A pretty good demonstration of what can happen in a shooting. (Wish we knew the caliber.)
