Dallas: Man killed in random drive-by

Post by seamusTX »

A vendor at an all-night outdoor flea market in downtown Dallas was killed by a shot fired at random from a car about 100 yards away. Police have no suspect and little information.

Random drive-by shootings are occurring in many cities this summer, particularly Chicago, Baltimore, Boston, Oakland, and the Los Angeles area. Maybe this is a statistical blip. Maybe it's a trend. I don't have data to figure it out. Drive-by shooting is not a crime that is reported uniformly.

In the long ascent to civilization, early man fist huddled in caves at night behind fires, safe from the predators outside. I wonder if those caves show up on Google Earth. They might come back in vogue.

Then man invented the club and the spear, and predators have been in retreat ever since.

The real question is what to do about this cancer of people (mostly teenage boys and men) who have nothing to live for but macho posturing, drugs, and you-know-what, and lash out with violence, not even seeming to care if they are arrested or killed.

Crime Stoppers and Schepps Dairy are offering a reward of $15,000 for information leading to the indictment of the criminals involved.

I do pray that they will catch these guys and hang'em. These drive-bys are becoming an epidemic.
