I just read that, and thought "I should post that on the forum". :waiting:

Then I thought, "No, it'll all ready be there", and here it is!
Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes... (Jefferson quoting Beccaria)

... tyrants accomplish their purposes ...by disarming the people, and making it an offense to keep arms. - Supreme Court Justice Joseph Story, 1840

He was a good little Mayor because he called 911 while a woman was being beaten. He was a coward because that was all he was willing to do. Seems he wouldn't have been beaten much worse if he would have just tried to disarm the guy with his bare hands. The headlines should be "Should Wisconsin Reconsider Right to Carry???".

The Mayors Against Illegal Guns site has Tom Barrett as an outspoken member http://mayorsagainstillegalguns.org/htm ... lwaukee_wi" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; . He is very much against our rights and has been active for years. I think it is ironic that someone who has fought so hard to strip people of their right to carry and even own guns was beaten by a man with a pipe. More proof that guns do not equal violence and doing away with them will not stop violence. It will simply insure his kind of helplessness is the norm. I wonder how long it will be before he has armed escorts everywhere he goes. It is his choice to continue to be a hypocrite or join the fight of the people to regain their civil rights.

By working so hard to strip people of their right to carry, he was, in effect, working hard to protect thugs. Now one of the thugs he was protecting clobbered him.

I shed no tears when people's karma catched up to them.

Regarding the mayor's security detail, the news stated that he has a
security detail when he is on official business, but does not have security
with him during family times.

Since he was out with his family at the time of the incident he had no security
with him.

Another case of the bad guy committing the crime when 911 is your only defensive option.

"He not only risked serious injury but endured serious injury in order to defend somebody who was weaker than their assailant," Milwaukee Police Chief Edward Flynn told CNN Radio.

When did calling 911 become defending someone. I know lets give him a medal and have a parade for him.

I pray he did some real introspective reflections. He could have been killed.

Maybe his stance on anti-2A will soften......time will tell.

The good Mayor has reason to rethink his position on firearms now. And if not, then the old saying is true. You can't wisen up a sucker.

I don't know where that guy Flynn thinks he is coming from with that statement. That's pure hogwash. All the Governor did was call 911 and then make a feeble attempt to defend himself when the perpetrator turned his way. It mirrors the present British policing policy that onlookers should pass the victim by and leave the situation for the authorities.
