Name some public figures who are 2A friends. What they shoot.

Post by surprise_i'm_armed »

Can anyone name some politicians, movie stars, or other high profile folks who
support the 2nd Amendment? If so, what do they shoot?

1st person that comes to my mind is Ted Nugent. We know the Motor City Madman
is ALL about 2A rights and that he now lives in Crawford, TX (near Waco).

Johnny Depp the actor just came out and said that he's done plenty of shooting in
his time with pistols, rifles, shotguns, and occasionally full auto machine guns.
He said without a doubt that he will take his kids shooting when they are old enough.

Stephen Colbert's clip above is 6M 59S long. The gun-specific part runs from about 5:10 to 6:10.
He interviews Jason Chaffetz (say Chay-fits), who is the US Representative from Utah's 3rd District (Provo and nearby).
He has a CHL equivalent and carries a Glock 23 (.40). Also owns a shotgun.
When Colbert asked if he was carrying right then, during the interview, the Rep replied tactfully "Maybe".

As a gun owner, notice that Chaffetz seems uneasy when Colbert draws his own gun, a large revolver that he has named
"Sweetness."

Colbert brings this gun out fairly often on the show when he wants to tease gun owners. He always keeps his finger on the trigger!

Someone commented on here that the Texas reps carry on the floor of the Texas State House.
And I believe that judges on the bench keep a pistol handy too.

Hunter S. Thomson shot often and TAM said his favorite gun was a .44 Ruger revolver.

Kay Baily mentioned that she keeps one with her, but I don't remember if she said the caliber.

Rick Perry. There was a thread going here about him visiting a gun manufacturer. Forget the name. He was shooting a full auto I believe.

Tom Selleck, and Chuck Norris are movie stars that come to mind.....don't know what they shoot though.

.357, I believe

Once saw an article that described her reaction when she first went to DC and was told she couldn't keep the gun with her there.

Since there's now so many pro-gun US Senators and Reps in DC now,
it seems they ought to start putting pressure on the DC gummint to
start observing the outcome of Heller vs. DC.

Open up the pentup demand for personal protection and the bad guys
will now have some competition for ammo.

After all, doesn't the Congress hold all the purse strings that run DC?

The Golden Rule states that those who have the gold, make the rules,
right Kemo Sabe?

The above link is the cover of the July 2009 Texas Monthly and features
Ted Nugent posing with his H & K MP5 10MM, with what appears to be a silencer
attached.

I think you have to be a registered user of the Texas Monthly site to read the article
in its entirety online.

I skimmed the hardcopy of this today at the dentist's. Ted Nugent was also photographed
for the article with his black and white zebra print .270 rifle and his Smith and Wesson 500
(.50?) revolver.

Although not photographed, Nugent likes to keep a 10 MM Glock pistol behind his back.

Jerry Jones, who owns the Cowboys, flew Ted from Waco to Arlington so Ted could play his
rocking version of the Star Spangled Banner.

Oh! That reminds me. Don't forget Barry Switzer....ex OU and Dallas Cowboys head coach. He's GOT to be a gun lover.

He had a gun taken away from him at DFW airport about 10 years ago, when he was about to board a plane.
(guess that IWB was so comfortable he forgot he had it!)

Seems to me I recall Kay Bailey throwing a hissy fit when she first moved to D.C. and was told she had to leave her gun at home in Texas.

Mike Huckabee has publicly said he carries, and at least one of his sons has a permit (this became public knowledge when he entered security at an airport with his pistol. What's up with people who "forget" they have their gun on them when they enter security??)

James Earl Jones: http://xavierthoughts.blogspot.com/2006 ... rship.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

That last one surprises me. I would think his voice alone is a deadly weapon.

Its a stretch to call Ronald Reagan a friend of the 2nd amendment.

Miranda Lambert is a country music singer from Lindale, Texas.
She was born 11/10/1983 and has her CHL, unknown what she carries. She hunts deer.
Her parents run a detective agencey, so guns are necessary with their line of work.
Dad had retired as a LEO, then started the detective gig. He taught her about guns early.
Lindale is a small town on the north border of Tyler,Texas (Smith County).
If you are on I-20 and stop to eat at one of the many food places at the US 69 exit, you
are in Lindale.
Her mother said something kind of brassy: "We all have guns in the family and we don't take any <guff> from anyone."

Miranda’s the only entertainer I’ve met who was given her first guitar and her first gun (only a BB gun, but still) when she was 8. She has taken a concealed-weapons course and is licensed to carry. “I’m a single girl living by myself and traveling a lot,” she said. “I grew up around guns and go out and fire on the range on my dad’s property.
