Home Invasion Turns Deadly For Intruder

Post by USA1 »

A home invasion in northwest Houston ended with a deadly shooting. It all happened at a home on Forest Pines Village at Forest Star.

Investigators say a suspect was shot while breaking into a home. Around 1:45pm police received a call of a shooting. Detectives say the homeowner was asleep inside the house when he was awakened by a knock at the front door. When he went to answer it, police say that someone broke in through the back door.

Police say the homeowner had a weapon and fired as many as four rounds.

One neighbor told Eyewitness News the homeowner had been the victim of burglars several times in the recent past. Another neighbor said the suspect lives nearby.

Edited to add....The next door neighbor also stated that the home owner had a license for his weapon .

Wow, another home invasion shooting near where I grew up (and where my mom and step-dad still live).

Interesting that they took the wounded intruder to Ben Taub. Seems a long way off and other hospitals with emergency rooms are closer. I know Ben Taub is the dumping ground for shooting victims in inner-city Houston, but this location has got to be 20 miles away. I guess maybe he was Life-Flighted?

Anyway, glad the homeowner is OK and that he was able to fend off the attack. Also like what the neighbor said "If you break into a home, car, commercial property, this is what is going to happen to you." ... well said.

What does "license for his weapon" mean?

Apparently they snuck in a requirement for a license to own a weapon while we were not looking :rolll
But he was probably referring to a CHL.

Either that, or we can assume this guy was REALLY cool, and defended his home with a NFA Title 2 Weapon, and the neighbor called the Tax Stamp a 'license' :thumbs2:

i was quoting the exact words of his neighbor during a later interview .

he did not specifically say "CHL" , he just said "license"
i can only assume the he meant CHL .
