An audit of the Texas Department of Public Safety criticized the agency for diverting personnel to Operation Border Star, a program intended to quell criminal activity at the border with Mexico. The report states that the program has caused personnel shortages in other parts of the state.
DPS reportedly has more than 300 vacant LEO positions.
