Philadelphia, Mississippi lies nestled in rolling hills northeast of Jackson and remains noted to this day for the 1964 murders of three young civil rights workers. I reckon you could call the residents thereabouts hill people, regardless of their color. Lots of churches in the area also. Plenty of traditional things for people of all colors around Philadelphia to cling to in troubled times.
