Union Switch and Signal

I was just reading calvinbr’s post “World War 2 Colt 1911” and it made me wonder about the worth of one of my guns. It’s a WWII issue Union Switch and Signal 1911. Anyone have an idea. It’s in pretty good shape for an old gun. Shoots like a champ.

IMHO, their list prices are in their dreams, but likely the value is upwards of $1,000 if all the parts are original and the pistol hasn't been hacked.

Thanks. No hacking and the #'s match. I'm sure it's all original. I've had this gun for about 40 years.

I'll do that for curiosity's sake. I'll keep it until it is passed on to one of my boys. I have never sold a gun, and probably never will.

Back in the '40s, I had an uncle that worked for Colt. He was a traveling inspector, visiting everyplace that had been licensed to produce their products. Obviously, he had worked many years for Colt.

After he retired, I remember visiting him in his behind the house workshop. He still had all his tools (crates and boxes of them), as well as a enough parts to build a few boxes of 1911's. I know he had some Union stuff, and I remember a couple of boxes of Singer. There were some more, but it has been so long I can't remember their names. Maybe one was Ithica?

Anyone have a time machine?
