Anyone been to the Caribbean?
We're looking at doing a small "destination wedding" in Puerto Rico or further east. Anyone have any do's or don'ts for the trip? besides "Don't get married".

Re: Anyone been to the Caribbean?
My only advice is...
I know it's west of PR, but stay away from Grand Bahama Island. I spent a week there in 07 and it was pretty down-trodden. While the resort I stay at (The Island Seas) was perfectly clean and amiable, I'm not sure I could say the same for the rest of the island. There was still quite a lot of hurricane damage visible not only on the landscape but many of the buildings were in disrepair. The worst thing however, was seeing all of these nice places via brochure in the resort lobby and then getting out there to find out that they're in fact closed. I'm not sure if I went off-season (Spring Break) but there were way too many seemingly abandoned stores/restaurants/attractions. Also, the only real way to get around (aside from rental car) is to take these taxi buses which can be a very terrifying experience late at night as large parts of the island are pretty secluded and throw out that "touristas" vibe. I did have one great dinner there (forget the name of the restaurant), which we had to be buzzed through a security door to enter, but after we were done and leaving a strange car pulled in front of us in the parking lot and a man offered to sell me marijuana. There are some other highlights but I don't want to write a short story here.
I hear Isla De Margarita is wonderful, but there's no way I'm going through Caracas to get there.
Martinique, Barbados, etc are probably what your looking for but I don't have much info there.

Check out Curacao, a Dutch island and very nice. Cruise ships stop there.

Caribbean? I spend a week there one night... (shave and a haircut, two bits).

The BVI is beautiful around April. Do you sail? Rent a bareboat. St. Thomas, St. John, and St. Croix are the American Virgin Islands and not a good place to be as a tourist unless you limit your movements to controlled areas.
You can rent boats with Captain and crew and food supplied and cruise the island chain if you aren't a sailor. Lots of stuff to see and do.
I'll be back again soon and often.
